Anyone know if one of these will venture down to the London area anytime soon, maybe to Freightliner's yard at Tilbury.

Sounds like 70001 will run to and from the SE from Stourton and 70002's likely to just do Portbury - Rugeley runs to start with. Who knows what the others will be used on but I think it's a good bet one will fine it's way onto the Anglo Scottish coal, especially if they're to be based at Midland Road.

Anglo-Scottish coal? Do you mean via the S&C? OMG! That means these things may soon be seen here in Shipley! Arrrggghhhh!

That's unfortunate:(. Because they won't be used on Intermodal services, I (hopefully) won't be seeing any near Southampton, unless they're used on NR infrastructure trains.

Says who? The Frieghtliner blokes that Ive spoken to rekon some of them will be on intermodel services.

The Huxley is out again this week, although by all accounts Wolverhampton Council have obtained an Injunction against it passing through there area, hence it is running only to Walsall and then turning back there.

I can see they are more 'eco friendly' than a class 60 for example, but surely your creating more emissions actually creating/building the new locomotives than running slightly older locos which arent that friendly..

Indeed. It's why the government's car scrappage scheme is obviously just a way of bailing out car dealers, and is not an environmental measure in any way. One way in which class 70s may be more environmentally friendly is that enthusiasts are unlikely to drive any distance to take lineside photos of them (unless they've just bought some sort of reinforced camera lens that is).
