Service changes from Monday 13 August
We are currently reviewing our bus services, mainly in North East Fife with plans to make changes from from Monday 13 August. These changes are largely as a result of a recent re-tendering exercise by Fife Council for subsidised services. We will also take the opportunity to make some adjustments to services following feedback on the changes made in May 2018 and to address a number of customer requests received over the past few months.
A summary of the proposed changes is given below. Please note these are subject to change:
Fife Area
Service 3/3A: Townhill – Dunfermline – Duloch Park
Proposal: Minor changes to late afternoon/early evening journeys serving Amazon, to give a better balance of journeys serving Pitcorthie and Abbeyview in the evening peak.
Service 7A: Kirkcaldy – Leven
Proposal: Revised timetable maintaining the current 30 min frequency. The 0636 7A journey will be retimed to depart at 0630 to allow connection on 0650 service 97. This is in order to further improve coordination with services in the Levenmouth area, building on improvements introduced in May. Buses will run up to every 10 minutes between Leven and Muiredge using a combined frequency of services 7/7A and 9/9A. Between East Wemyss and Kirkcaldy, journeys will run every 15 minutes on the 7/7A.
Service 9/9A: Methilhill – Leven – Kennoway – Denhead/Bonnybank
Proposal: Revised timetable maintaining the current 30 min frequency, to further improve coordination with services in the Levenmouth area, building on improvements introduced in May. Buses will run up to every 10 minutes between Leven and Muiredge using a combined frequency of services 7/7A and 9/9A.
Service 11/12: Kirkcaldy – Templehall – Fife Central Retail Park
Proposal: Revised route and timetable with Ferrard Road Aldi served by services 11 and 12 in one direction only, instead of both directions, to address reliability problems. Service 11 will serve Ferrard Road heading towards the retail park and service 12 will serve Ferrard Road heading to the bus station. This change will save a few minutes which can redistributed through the timetable.
Service 19/19A/19B/19D: Rosyth – Dunfermline – Halbeath P&R – Cowdenbeath – Ballingry
Proposal: Minor revisions to afternoon journeys serving Rosyth Dockyard. The 1712 19D journey from Rosyth Dockyard will be revised to run as service 19B departing Hilton Road at 1717. The 1732 19B journey from Hilton Road will be revised to run as service 19D from Rosyth Dockyard. This is due to requests by Rosyth Dockyard workers to give a later departure.
Service 24: St Andrews – Cupar – Glenrothes (part of service X24 timetable)
Proposal: Due to Fife Council tender changes, the Monday to Friday 0510 St Andrews to Glenrothes journey will be replaced by a new 0453 journey to Cupar, connecting with the existing 0517 journey from Cupar. An additional journey from St Andrews to Glenrothes will run at 0555. The Saturday 0510 St Andrews to Glenrothes journey will be withdrawn.
Service 28: QM Hospital – Dunfermline – Saline – High Valleyfield – Falkirk
Proposal: To provide an earlier journey into Dunfermline as requested by Fife Council, we plan to introduce a new journey from Wellwood at 0616 arriving in Dunfermline at 0621.
Service 41/41A/41B/41C: Kirkcaldy/Leven – Kennoway – Leven
Proposal: Due to this Fife Council contract ending, we plan to introduce a new 1839 Leven to Cupar 41B journey. The daytime 41B & 41C journeys will no longer be operated by Stagecoach and will be run by Moffat & Williamson.
Service 42/42B: St Andrews – Tayport – Dundee
Proposal: To improve reliability, we will revise the route in Dundee city centre to run via Commercial Street and Seagate instead of using the bus station. This change will save a few minutes which can redistributed through the timetable.
Service 43/44: Glenrothes Whitehill – Markinch – Windygates – Leven
Proposal: To give a better service in the morning and afternoon, the timetable will be enhanced to remove most of the schoolday variations giving a more consistent frequency across the day.
Service 47: Buckhaven – Aberhill – Leven – Mountfleurie
Proposal: Due to this Fife Council contract ending, this service will be withdrawn and incorporated into the new 41B timetable, operated by Moffat & Williamson.
Service 64: Leven – Largoward – St Andrews
Proposal: Stagecoach will no longer run this service and it will now be operated by Moffat & Williamson.
Service 68: Cupar town service
Proposal: Stagecoach will no longer run this service and it will now be operated by Moffat & Williamson.
Service 77/77B: Dundee – Wormit & Gauldry
Proposal: To improve reliability, this route will be revised in Dundee city centre to run via Commercial Street and Seagate instead of using the bus station. This change will save a few minutes which can redistributed through the timetable.
Service 94/94A/94X: Dundee – Wormit & Gauldry
Proposal: Due to Fife Council tender changes, this timetable will be revised, mainly around early morning and late evening times. The extension of one journey to/from Abernethy will be discontinued.
Service 95: Leven – Anstruther – St Andrews
Proposal: Due to Fife Council tender changes, additional Sunday journeys at 0650 Leven to St Andrews and 0810 Anstruther to Leven will be introduced.
Service 97: Leven – Upper Largo – St Andrews
Proposal: To accommodate other changes on the network, we plan to Withdraw the following journeys: 0625 St Andrews to Leven Monday to Friday and 0755 Leven to St Andrews Sunday which will be replaced by new journey on 95 Sunday only. We also plan to retime the 0855 Leven to St Andrews Monday to Friday journey to depart at 0910.
Service 99/99A/99B/99C/99D: St Andrews – Leuchars – Dundee
Proposal: To match growing demand on this busy and popular service, we plan to increase daytime frequency to every 7-8 minutes Monday to Saturday. No change to the Sunday timetable or N99 journeys.
Service 747: Halbeath P&R – Inverkeithing – Ferrytoll P&R – Edinburgh Airport
Proposal: To better reflect current journey times and speeds following completion of the Queensferry Crossing, there will be minor timetable changes to redistribute running time between Inverkeithing and Edinburgh Airport. No change to service frequency.
Services X4: Leven – Glenrothes
Proposal: To provide an earlier arrival into Leven from Glenrothes for those starting work at 0715-0730, we will add a new 0642 Glenrothes to Leven Monday to Friday journey.
Service X54: Dundee – Cupar – Glenrothes – Halbeath P&R – Ferrytoll P&R – Edinburgh
Proposal: To better reflect current journey times and speeds following completion of the Queensferry Crossing, the timetable will be revised with adjustments to running times between Ferrytoll P&R and Edinburgh.
Services X55: Dunfermline – Rosyth – Ferrytoll P&R – Edinburgh

Service X56: Perth – Kinross – Kelty – Halbeath P&R – Ferrytoll P&R – Edinburgh
Proposal: To better reflect current journey times and speeds following completion of the Queensferry Crossing, the timetable will be revised with adjustments to running times between Ferrytoll P&R and Edinburgh.
Service X58/X60: St Andrews – Leven – Kirkcaldy – Ferrytoll P&R – Edinburgh

Fife school services
The following services will have minor retimings to match revised school start/finish times for the new term:
CG1, DF12, SC2, SC3, SC5, SC7, SC8, SC9, SC10, SC11
Perth & Blairgowrie area
Service 1: City Centre – Letham & Tulloch
Proposal: To meet customer requests for an earlier arrival in Perth city centre for those starting work at 0600 (journey will arrive Mill Street at 0555 instead of 0603 as now), the 0530 Monday to Friday journey from Mill Street will be revised to depart at 0522.
Service 14: Perth – Almondbank - Pitcairngreen
Proposal: The route will be revised to omit Rose Crescent. Route will serve Jeanfield Road – Riggs Road – Glasgow Road heading towards the city, and the reverse towards Pitcairngreen.
Service 15/15A: Perth – Crieff – Comrie – St Fillans/Stirling
Proposal: In response to complaints from residents asking that the bus service be withdrawn from their street, we will remove journeys from Tay Avenue, Comrie.
Service 34: Perth – Spittalfield – Blairgowrie
Proposal: Due to requests from Perth & Kinross Council, we will discontinue the service 34B variation via Essendy Bridge and run these journeys as service 34 via Meikleour.
Service 57: Dundee – Blairgowrie – Perth
Proposal: Minor timetable revisions to accommodate revised school transport requirements for the new term. The 0843 Rattray to Blairgowrie High School schooldays only journey will be revised to start from Wellmeadow and will additionally serve Blairgowrie Community Campus. The 1442 Blairgowrie to Perth schooldays only journey revised to depart 5 mins earlier at 1437.
Service 58: Blairgowrie - Guildtown - Perth
Proposal: Due to requests from Perth & Kinross Council, we will add extra journeys: 0915 Blairgowrie – Perth on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, additional 1410 Perth – Blairgowrie on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. 1342 departing Blairgowrie now finished at Perth Bus Station instead of the PRI Monday – Saturday. 1745 departure from Perth – Blairgowrie now departs at 1740 Monday – Friday.
Service 59: Dundee – Coupar Angus – Blairgowrie
Proposal: Minor timetable revisions to accommodate revised school transport requirements for the new term. The 0843 Blairgowrie to Dundee via Blairgowrie Community Campus journey will no longer serve the community campus and will depart Wellmeadow at 0845 every day. Revised service 57 provides alternative links to the community campus at this time.
Service X56: Perth – Kinross – Kelty – Halbeath P&R – Ferrytoll P&R – Edinburgh
Proposal: To better reflect current journey times and speeds following completion of the Queensferry Crossing, the timetable will be revised with adjustments to running times between Ferrytoll P&R and Edinburgh.
Dundee & Angus area
Service 30: Edzell – Brechin – Montrose – Arbroath
Proposal: To improve reliability, the route and timetable will be revised in Arbroath to serve Cliffburn, Great Michael Road
Service 39: Arbroath – Dundee – Perth
Proposal: To improve reliability, the eastbound route in Dundee city centre will be revised to run via Lower Princes Street instead of Victoria Road.
