What do you think of this effect?

A few months ago my 'main' camera's battery conked out on me and it isn't really economical viable to replace it, nor could I be arsed. I've since been borrowing an older even less 'sophisticated' camera from my parents, and while the pics are technically of a lower quality I quite like how the camera gives them a 'warm' feel, almost like they've been done on film. Here's what I mean:

This is taken with the Vivitar that I don't use anymore.

And this with the Praktica which has lower resolution and less Megapixels.

The lighting conditions are similar, and the warmness of the second image is clear. Although it is technically false colour representation, I quite like it, and the camera is really growing on me. It takes some excellent Macro shots if you get the distance just right, too.

What do you guys make of it?

Cool, I use a vivitar myself can snap up some great shots with it

You could use the Vivitar and then add the warmness later. Then you get the advantage of the higher resolution too.

True, but don't forget it's not all about the MP count. After all no two pixels are the same between manufacturers and different types of camera

Well the Vivitar's battery has gone now and its so old I don't feel like replacing it. I think I am going to get a new camera soon which does good video but I am going to keep the Praktica as well, I quite like it. Some of the Macro shots it can do are amazing, you'd never believe it was a point n' click.

I know this, I still use a Canon 350D. Which has been replaced several times now. I get strange looks when I shoot as press somewhere.

LOL! I can imgaine you do!!!! Still, the 350D is a damn fine camera - as the old saying goes - if it aint broke, don't fix it! I've got a 400D and that does the job just fine
