Windsor is often used for filming purposes, could well have just been the usual filming activities that SWT/SWR are involved in.

Yes indeed And in any case what reason would there be to replace the seats. It's not like the 444s where the existing seats would be too large for the new configuration. I just think the artists impressions of the refurbished interiors were rather poor, giving the impression that the seats were different.

The artists impression certainly gave a different impression on the type of seats, they looked totally different in those.

Currently in a 450 (016) that's been semi-refurbished.

The seats are firm but definitely padded better than a Desiro City or Crossrail train - decent lumbar support. You can push down into the cushion.

The blue shows the dirt much more already. Chocolate stains embedded deep in some cushions.

Nice to have fresh clean carpet. Was worried they'd do a 458 and go mucky vinyl.

The sockets are annoying but you can still put your foot up on them, just a lot higher than before. (Edit: screw that - getting cramp. They're at shin level and dig in if you're not careful too. Awful placement)

I had 450016 a few weeks back and noticed it was already showing dirt up very badly. The First Class seats were even worse, the light grey leather showed stains very clearly.

Surely they can't put comfortable seats in as they wouldn't meet the modern safety standards (sarcasm here).

I do like the new carpet and stated colours. Whether they will always look as nice in the future I'd another matter.

They have 2+2 seating, so I think that's probably correct yes. Very uncomfortable regardless

The grey part of the seat doesn't appear to have changed. Only the covering and padding. I don't know if the old 450 seats had just worn down but it definitely felt more supportive of the lower back.

One of two reasons I hate Desiros in general. At least, I've never tried 444s/450s but they are likely just as bad as the 380s.

I had hoped they might improve the seating, instead they are doing nothing of the sort.

I find 444s very comfortable, quite often I’ve fallen asleep sat upright without waking up with ‘nodding dog’ neck. 450s are not quite as nice.

Perhaps being longer-distance units they are more comfortable; the 380s are sort of suburban/outer-suburban units essentially and they are not comfy!

The 350 seats are very good (other than the /2s), as are those on the 185s if they're the same. Commute on them, always find them comfy. I'd say most regular passengers (and we have a few other LNWR regulars here) feel the same.

Yes, the cushions are badly collapsed in the 450s. The retrim restores them to their correct profile which makes them more comfortable

I don't think you can actually see the train from the ferry, the pier head buildings and platform screen are in the way (and the train only arrives after the ferry has docked). But the name and logo is probably big enough to read if there is a possible angle.

None of the other units appear to have the new logo yet - certainly the other unit in service on Saturday had plain red sides, as did the other visible units at St John's.
