Because whenever I leave Scotland we always seem to return we wouldn't normally wait that long at Euston.

In circumstances like this, where it’s physically the same train (forming different service), it’s absolutely fine. Just try not to just loop between A-B-A-B… etc

There would certainly be earlier services than that! And you have to use the first one you can get after 05:00 as stated in the rules.

Night services in the UK can be quite limited, so when the previous move arrives at its destination after 2300 you are allowed to wait until 0500 the next day if you wish.

Catching a service at 09:30 certainly does not sound like "waiting until 05:00". So we must return to Perth. @DanTrainMan185
