Trivia: Wired Stations served mostly by Diesels

Certainly high level. There’s 8tph each way electrics through. There’s around 10tph leave and enter High Level each hour I think, of which 2tph are electric. So overall, Queen Street is actually mostly served by electrics, slightly.

Yeah should of said high level .Low level only gets the sleeper.

I first travelled on the line to Newcraighall in around 2011 and the 158 simply turned round in the platform at the time. I think a future visit saw the same happen. Never heard of Newcraighall having services run into a turnback siding

Whenever I was there they just turned at the platform, but I have seen pictures of them using a turnback siding.

Darlington I think is mostly served by diesels as its only the half hourly service provided by Virgin Trains East Coast thats electric but the Transpennie Express, CrossCountry and Northern are all diesel. Durham I think is mostly diesel as well.

Stockport is mostly served by Diesel by the looks of it.

I suppose for the next few months every station on the Gospel Oak to Barking line counts. I've been told that the OHLE is now live (of should at least be considered live).

It was an absolute mystery why that bit of route was electrified. Even if it was needed for a diversion from a very short and plain bit of the WCML, no such crews would sign it.

When the electrification was opened in 1974, for a few years there was one passenger service routed that way, a morning 304 emu ran from Crewe to Preston stopping at those stations, returning in the afternoon. I wonder if anyone ever got on/off there.

I travelled on that service on the last day it ran. I think it was used for route retention purposes; Crewe traincrew.

Not sure about that as there is the Buxton, Cleethorpes, Chester (Via Altrincham), Norwich, Bournmouth, Bristol Temple Meads and Carmarthen trains are all diesel which is 7 per hour plus I think the Hazel Grove to Preston train is diesel which is 8.

DMUs use platform 7 at Chester, although normally the opposite end
