Is there a reason why some passenger doors are blue and some brown? Or am I seeing things?!

It's actually a Silvery Grey for the doors which denote Standard Class and Gold which denotes the First Class area although I'm confused about where the First Class area is, surely it would have been better being at one end say the London end keeping in with the BR trend of having First Class at the London end.

Still, it's nice seeing a much talked about fictional livery become a reality.

i think they put the amber stripe on to give it more colour than the plain black, looks good though.

Why the orange stripe?!

I saw a mock up on this site a while ago without the stripe and it looked much better. Spoils the look IMO. The big question is though: how will the livery look whilst it is broken down in the middle of nowhere?

I really like it. An homage to the "great" American railroads, in-keeping with their theme.

Fortunately, as the photo suggests, it is going to look awesome when it's standing still - as I suspect it will be most of the time.. or chugging along very slowly on one engine!!

I think First has done a good job with the HT ones, but think GC has gone one better. Maybe we'll see them ending up side by side halfway up the ECML one day...

Had First Class been in the driving car, there would be fewer seats.

Exactly what I was thinking. Considering the length of the unit, it isn't really viably to have two first class cars, so to maximise seating capacity it makes sense to have FC in a full sized coach. :)

Clever. Shame about the reliability though

I reckon the HSTs would like nice with the stripe, especially if they had the buffers removed and received similar yellow front (rather than the rather odd looking panel they currently have). The one bit I don't like about the look of the GC HSTs- the front is plain awful.
