Settle-Carlisle (S&C) line issue tonight? (11/01)

Seems to have been an earlier problem 2H96 lost almost 2 hours between Settle Jn & Blea Moor with 2H98 terminated at Hellifield. Signalling issues or something else?

Blea Moor is one of the most remote places for the S&T staff to get to when a failure occurs. Knowing the lay out at Blea Moor and the single line over Ribblehead viaduct, a track circuit failure can lock the points for the single line and prevent any train movements until the S&T attend

Indeed, and perhaps it also showed the merits of the one time BR policy of station staff being trained to go trackside and assist in certain operational matters

I forgot about the single track section over the viaduct which has probably contributed to a lot of the delay.

Blea Moor is a long way from anywhere. It would take the fitters hours just to get near. gets dark early up there to
