That is a big loco, do they or did they used to have and maybe still do, these locos on the North York Moors and Mid Hants Railways ?
The Mid Hants one was sold on, but I’m not sure where it actually ended up. It was USATC number 3278, but also known as 701 named Franklin D Roosevelt. Was it the first S160 preserved in this country? I seem to remember it came from Greece along with the 2-10-0 WD 90775 (601 Sturdee now at the North Norfolk Railway).

There’s actually quite a few S160s in the uk although some of them are dismantled for parts.
The Churnet Valley, KWVR and NYMR have examples at least, although as said the NYMR one is heading to Devon when it’s completed.
I remember 3278 on the Mid Hants in the 90s really well. It was very different to the uk locos. It was a bit ‘Marmite’ for a lot of the crews, but as an enthusiast I liked it and it’ll be interesting hearing it echoing around the South Devon hills when it comes down. I know I’ve already said it but they really are noisy beasts.

Watched one on YouTube, gosh that’s loud. Think I’ll have to video as well as taking pictures
I think the American diesels are even louder, I saw a video of one running next to an American steam engine and they both tooted the diesel's horn blaster was louder.
