SWR Repaints and Refurbishments

To update your list, 707013,014, 023 and 025 are all delivered.
001 and 002 are SWR branded as well as another pair in the higher twenties (can't remember which ones sorry).

When I saw 001 and 002 the other day it looked to me that they had had SWR vinyls using cut lettering applied direct to the paintwork, therefore having had the SWT names removed rather than overlaid.

Agreed. It's the worst thing about the CrossCountry livery, too, where the Voyager end coaches have two standard-size "CrossCountry X"s, one small one, plus a giant X. Yes, we got the message the first time, thank you.

I sat on it a few days ago and it was as original.

Suffice to say the inside looked considerably more pleasing than the outside.

I'm glad they brought it back, damage was clearly not as bad as first thought. SWR need all the capacity they can get (as someone living in Wimbledon, I can definitely concur!), and it'd seem foolish to launch the 10-car timetable only to then be a unit short.

Given that NR (or their insurance) would be paying for the repairs and that leasing contracts with Porterbrook would already be signed, why would they have not taken it on?

Hello, as the new franchise launch rapidly approaches, I thought we could do with a thread similar to the GWR and TPE ones.

I noticed a return move for 158886 was taking place today, going via Exeter. I would assume this is a unit in the new livery.

Excuse me but may you please update the list? I saw about five rebranded 458s today, six 707s all of which were rebranded, plus hardly any 455s remain with the SWR logo.

The interior was not changed on 444040 however it now out of service and being fully refurbished to the new SWR standard, it should be back in service in February.

One of the middle cabs is usually the home for guards on most 450 services I use.

SWT Guards are obliged to announce their whereabouts at various intervals during the journey. If indeed they are in a cab, that should be communicated, i.e. "I'm towards the middle of the train", etc. This is a very decent policy, from what was generally a very decent TOC. There are windows in Desiro cab doors when in coupled form, so a Guard occupying one would still visible to passengers passing by, although of course the Guards' office is better. I think getting rid is a backward step, but then of course SWT always understood the value of their Guards more than most TOCs.

The preferable approach, which some take, is to announce that they'll be passing through during the journey, but "should you require immediate assistance I'm currently located at X". By their nature, a Guard won't be in one place for long.

None on 456s, or 707s, and from what I can tell, the 458 ones aren't all that reliable.
