Just been accepted for the part time role. I am well chuffed although I had accepted another job offer 2 days before getting the call. Won't be staying in that job long

Just a few questions if I may:

Any idea how long into the new year we can expect until training will start?

Prospect of FT position after 12/18 months?

How long between offer and completing the medical?

Thanks in advance and well done to all those who were successful! I can't wait to get started
When did you do your AC2? BIG CONGRATS

Firstly congratulations!

To answer your questions..

1. No idea..I believe all the remaining courses this year are full though so I guess your looking at early/mid next year now.
2. Again very hard to answer, depends on if the vacancies are there! Of course MOST, although not all, part timers have a wish to go FT so they will be all be in front of you now. You are eligible to apply for FT after you complete and pass the 13-16 weeks initial course..so if you start in Jan 18 you will be able to apply for FT in March 19...or there abouts.
3. 4 months for me but again it varies...I was in no rush and turned down an earlier course.

Well done!

My advice to those wishing to hear it is for ac1; use practise material. Work as quickly and accurately as you can. Practise material can be very similar or slightly different but it was surprising how many had clearly not even look at the practise stuff when I did mine.

Ac2 prepare, prepare and prepare. Look at the 4 competencies and think about achievements in your working life where you have resolved things in relation to these competencies. I had about 3 different examples I could use and then said them at loud to myself a million times beforehand. I then choose the best one for the question. And remember, it's an interview so things can get nervous. Try and stay calm and speak clearly and confidently.

Good luck to all!

Yh good advice as I was part of those tho who didnt lool at practise materials...those things r just to glimpse to give u an idea of what 2 expect but no point going over it 100x
..depending on the person I just went to the test ..they clearly explain what you have to do and they guve u practise questions and then u start..self explanatory really...all information is there ..jiat look or work out the answer.....either u get it or u don't...

I will be honest.... I'm not too concerned about the later part of AC1.. ERROR checking* and shapes, I'm more concerned about the information side... don't want to be wasting time re reading passages then run out of time... the pressure lol

Hey Tron and Jetlagged! It went fine and the day went out really smooth. My group finished by about 11 (started at about 8:30). I have a feeling I know which way it went but time will tell. Best of luck though on your assessment day!

Thanks. And sorry for not posting sooner. I think the best tip to give to you both is definitely use the practice material. It was quite evident when I was there that some people hadn't and they seemed to struggle- for example the part(3) of the SCAAT can at first be a confusing concept so don't let that be the first day you come across it. Also, they highly recommend that you don't use the technique where you have to find two shapes and you look for one shape at a time- I think you lose too much time doing this method so unless you really struggle, I would try to find both shapes together.

Interestingly, the charter that you should have read before and that you sign clearly indicates you should be dressed smartly; nearly everyone at my day were dressed smart.

Thanks for that Pudsey.

The two shapes at the same time is coming on well, so that's the way that I'll be going. As for smart dressing, if I wash and iron the tracksuit first, that would work right? ;)

Lol.... well I'm not confident with how mine went down today ... so I will hold out hope but be prepared to try other avenues if they arise in the future

Sorry to hear that Tron. What is your particular concern?

I wasted to much time on the information sections... then the 4 sequences threw me off a bit... I was expecting 3 max... sometimes I supposed it's nerves that get the better of you.... I was happy with all the shape finding though... but we will see...
