It's likely to be a pretty continuous thing for a while now

It starts on a Friday as you’re external.

So basically on Friday you’ll have a Train Operator Course Specific Induction.

Monday AM you’ll have your TfL wide induction with other staff (CSA’s, maybe some compliance and back office staff)

Then Monday PM you’ll meet up with your full course (the external group you’ve been with so far and the internals who’ll make up the rest of your course that you’ll meet at this point, and they’ll be mainly full time)

To put it in more context, the internals do not need a TfL induction and their train op induction is shorter as they know what they’re getting into.
So they do a shortened version of the train op induction on the Monday AM and you both start on a semi-equal footing on the Monday PM.

I say semi-equal as internals will have a basic knowledge of a lot of stuff you’ll cover e.g. radio procedure that you won’t have unless you come from somewhere like say BTP.

Thanks Halfway Boy - that's really helpful, much appreciated

Thanks matey. I never realised that they run overnight prior to this job advert obviously lol

The service launched in August last year following well over a year of political (small 'p') to-ing and fro-ing between the Unions. Considering the high profile, last-minute abortive start in September 2015 it's interesting to hear that someone could have missed it all!

For full context (it never hurts to repeat these things, to be fair), overnight services operate on Friday and Saturday nights as follows:
*Jubilee and Victoria lines: 6tph across the whole line
*Piccadilly line: 3tph Cockfosters-Arnos Grove, 6tph Arnos Grove-Heathrow Terminal 5 (A change from launch; was originally 6tph throughout but the service at the east end has been reduced. The reality has been ever more reduced recently. No service Acton Town-Uxbridge or to Terminal 4.)
*Central line: 3tph Hainault/Loughton-Leytonstone, 3tph White City-Ealing Broadway, combining to 6tph Leytonstone-White City. (No service Epping-Loughton, Hainault-Woodford via Grange Hill, North Acton-West Ruislip)
*Northern line: 4tph Edgware/High Barnet-Camden Town, 8tph Camden Town-Morden via Charing Cross. (No service via Bank or to Mill Hill East)

Thanks for the info matey, much appreciated and informative. I am assuming the services that run are busy and worthwhile? Is their any original NT operators who still work part time or have they all.moved into full-time roles?

Thanks again.

Plenty of original NT drivers still doing NT, though plenty have also moved on to other things (not necessarily full time T/Op).

No comment. Because a) it's taking this thread off-topic, and b) apparently sarcasm won't get me anywhere on the railway. *ragequits*

Oooo so glad that's over!
For anyone else doing their AC2 soon my opinion is as follows:

The interview wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. quite straightforward.
Standard tell us about yourself question.
Competency ones, definitely have two answer options for each of the four subjects.
Pick the one that fits their question the best. (mould it to the specifics of the question if you can)

Practise the rVce if possible, it is a little tricky to get all the relevant info down in the time you have, it's a fair bit of information.
Also when converting your notes into what you're going to say, use shorthand or bullet points as the 5 mins goes really quick!
(I didn't quite finish and had to wing it at the end from my notes)
Speak kinda slowly, (and clearly) so you don't mess up lol

Now the dreaded wait begins!! argh!

Edit - DARK CHOC
Thanks for asking, I think it went quite well, couple of bits could have been smoother but overall I'd be happy with it if it was a normal interview, Obviously though for this one the competition is really tough! so we will see!
Well done bro...you sound like a confident individual
..let us know the outcome ..i just got my call ...Haps

Yea they say up to 10 days but the assessor on the day said we will hear much sooner, so dont know if its a bad sign that I haven't heard anything back yet. oh well the wait will continue. Congrats BTW, got a start date?

Just been accepted for the part time role. I am well chuffed although I had accepted another job offer 2 days before getting the call. Won't be staying in that job long

Just a few questions if I may:

Any idea how long into the new year we can expect until training will start?

Prospect of FT position after 12/18 months?

How long between offer and completing the medical?

Thanks in advance and well done to all those who were successful! I can't wait to get started
