Yeah, if we leave the EU we would no longer have a veto on this if it is indeed something that is going to happen. Please provide some evidence that this is actually a thing. In 12 months time I fully expect it to be another thing a Brexiter said that never happened.

Look on the bright side, Furnessvale's vote has given the government the green light to allow in even more "Somali's with 8 kids" should they wish. So he's done the poorest and most persecuted a huge favour...we should thank him for his humanity!
Whilst I readily admit to voting leave, I do wonder why my name has been brought into this particular aspect of the thread.
I have confined my input to financial aspects and cannot recollect posting on immigration and racial matters.

As a clever poster have you ever read the weather report in the Daily Express? It is good for a laugh.

Your name is with the statement? Has there been some mix-up? If so, I apologise!
Question - why is your name with the statement saying "you said" if it's not yours?

EDIT - gone back a few pages and highspeed990 wrote it - so there's clearly a quote of a quote or something. I just read the quote and as it said you wrote it - not the name of the original author. Again I apologise but that needs sorting out so writers aren't mis-quoted.

A screenshot of someone else's post with a quote rather than furnessvale's actual post isn't really sufficient evidence, anyone can edit a quote.

It's still there and I don't think has been edited. What's going on? Why is a post accredited to someone who didn't write it? Has someone altered the name??

My answer to the premise of this thread is "I have no idea" but that wasn't one of the options. I can't predict the future.

There's a lot of discussion in the news about the prospects or otherwise of agreeing a deal before March 2019. What do you think *will* happen? (as opposed to what do you think should happen) - vote here.

I think a deal is likely, however I just can't see any deal including retention of free movement. A lot of people seem to underestimate just how much of a salient issue this is for many British people - many people wish to see an end to free movement, at least in its current form.

Imagine if our leaving helped an EU army become a thing. 27+ countries with a powerful army. And us.

I was under the impression that we were cutting the Services to the bone - so financially and strength-wise we would be better off under a combined EU army? Anyhow, even after we leave I'm sure what's left of our forces will be involved in combined EU/UK manouvres and the EU/UK army will be as good as one even if it technically isn't. It would be very odd if that wasn't the case?

I would imagine keeping close working with other armies is another thing we want/expect to continue even after leaving. Thus far it seems we want everything to continue as normal that benefits us, as long as we're also allowed to kick out anyone we don't like.

But it does raise an interesting question - in this day and age, might a EU wide army actually be a good thing?

Clearly strength in numbers would be a good thing - however there would be complications. Example - suppose the Spanish government wants to send in the EU army to quell riots in Catalonia? Suppose the UK wants to use the army if Northern Ireland reignites?
So an EU-wide single army could create more problems than it solves, and I thing the best solution is greater co-operation not combination. But I don't know the finer details so this is pure guesswork.

Have a look back and you will see a post by NajaB in which highspeed990's comment contained within a quote attributed to furnessvale. I suspect this is due to human error; I've seen this before.

It is easy to accidentally mess up quote tags when posting, I have done this myself.

Unfortunately a now-banned member keeps re-registering to post on this thread, he is apparently very unhappy about a post which has since been deleted. If anyone spots this member return, please report any of his posts to us. I have deleted the posts from these two accounts (and the replies).

Also just a reminder that, as stated in our rules, any concerns should be reported to us by use of the report button. If anyone says something objectionable it is not within the rules to break the rules in retaliation; simply report it and do not react, respond or quote it in any way and we will deal with it.

It's entirely possible (likely) that I messed up the quoting. It was definitely originally posted by highspeed990.

I've seen little evidence that an EU army would ever become a thing outside of the most rabid brexiters wildest "Lets leave now" fantasies.

The other thing that, according to Farage, was just moments away was Turkey joining. Obviously NOT an attempt to make us fear all those nasty Turkish muslims suddenly being able to freely move here. Oh no.

Turkey hasn't yet joined.

Turkey hasn't yet joined.

And is unlikely to join in the next 20 years

In fact, we're more likely to rejoin!

One thing holding Turkey up apart from their economy and their human rights is that to get in they would need the vote of both Greece and Cyprus.

Ain't gonna happen. unless a certain border is removed, and although there are good vibes recently, I don't think we are very far down that road.

It's more likely that Northern Ireland will have seamless borders with the Republic come Brexit than Turkey will have joined. Just another thing the Brexiters never thought about when they took back control.

That was quite a wordy way of saying you have no opinion!

I thought it was a fairly concise way of pointing out that I cannot possibly know what will happen in a year and a half from now.
If you want my opinion , I want us out of the EU regardless of whether they do a "deal".

" I don't know" would have been concise. You just rambled and said the same thing. We are still at the point where you have no argument. Just you want out. You could have been more concise.

Let's try this again.

Why?

It's 23.15 and I am winding down plus I have had online debates, often acrimonious , with Remainers and it would serve no purpose to have yet another one. Suffice to say I got the result I wanted in the referendum.
