How about a yellow band above the windows on 1st, or is that too obvious?

No, the current 1st roundels are retained as dark outlines.
Any idea when they'll begin to appear in the line? Very glad they have made this move - XC needs do to the same as a heck of a clean is needed!
To be fair, the doors were recently de-striped on the 390s. I imagine minor changes to design and colour.
The oldest of the trains are 15 years old and haven't been touched at all, the paint on them does look a bit tired.
Personally, I'd love to see a red derivative of the TSGN livery.
A national standard livery would be a good one... perhaps Blue and Grey?![]()
...scrap the dreadful voyagers...
A good move, but it would depend on having enough Pendolini.
With luck the new franchise will bring some movement on this.
Our new livery approach to both East Coast and West Coast is named flowing silk. Its a simple concept but with very effective, unique results. Inspired partly by design and brand from across the Virgin Group, it wraps a literal Virgin red ribbon in and around our trains, owning them, holding them, making them truly ours. It adds curves, shapes and dynamism wherever it goes, and the flow across the train itself takes its main inspiration from the natural world the wind.
Think of our new livery and its unique wind flow as a metaphor for our trains. The wind is endless, it never stops, it is relentless, it has unlimited power, it refreshes, it is a literal breath of fresh air. From a hot summer breeze to a cold winter blast, the wind drives temperature, changes emotions, affects both the physical and the mental. It wraps itself around you, a cooling gust makes you feel relaxed, a big whoosh makes you feel alive! Our trains embody all of the above. They literally go like the wind.
The static nature of a train, as most customers see it on a station, mean they can feel quite lifeless, very mechanical and devoid of personality by taking the natural flow of wind to our Virgin red and creating this new style, they are suddenly alive, ready to go, speed machines with attitude. They have style AND substance in one polished, perfect package. Our new style, with its different, unique and bold swooping forms, heralds a new beginning for Virgin Trains, and a change in one of Britains greatest brands.
One where we are no longer a challenger, we are a leader. We fly the flag. We shoot for the stars. We push forward and expect others to follow. We show that how its always been isnt good enough anymore. Were not just shaping our future, but the future of the whole rail network in Britain.

Feels like we're getting '50 shades of grey' with most of the 'new' liveries.

Looks absolutely horrible. Could've at least had blue doors and kept the dotted line below the windows to fill the space up a bit.
I reckon they'll change the door colours as they're a similar colour to the body.
