I think they need to put a note to that effect on the online departure boards at Clapham Junction.

I doubt many Southern passengers would be aware.

Publicity on this matter should have started to be more evident from the last few days onwards. There's currently a fairly long announcement playing at intervals at various stations, and onboard staff are being made aware.

Sorry if already mentioned but the Weekday timetable for the West of England line is now up.

As expected the Exeter - Waterloo services are carrying on to Waterloo, with the Salisbury locals getting diverted to Reading, seemingly every hour

That's good to hear. Still nothing on the Horsham trains about some of them not stopping at Clapham Junction when you do a planner search.

On the direct trains it says they will be busy. However for those where one must change, it doesn't say anything in either part of the journey.

Any trains that skip Clapham Junction don't say anything as they are not stopping at Clapham Junction, so the system doesn't seem to know to associate it to the journey.

Perhaps the systems in place cannot deal with these kinds of eventualities.

Perhaps it's not an issue as the info is avilable elsewhere.

Few full page adverts in the press especially metro. And eve standard.

Was at Southampton Parkway yesterday and 4 or 5 additional staff (temps?) were asking waiting and arriving passengers if they were aware of the blockade, and handing out the booklets...

They do seem to be doing a good job of telling people.

Perhaps they could take out full page ads on the days when the Evening Standard are most likely to be criticising them for the blockade and disruption. Would the Evening Standard criticise them if they had an ad in the same edition?

Shows my cynicism of newspapers if I'm already assuming they will be criticised.

They've already got full page ads in the Standard (saw one in last night's edition).
Indeed but they possibly also need them on the days the Evening Standard are most likely to run their negative rail news reports.

Does anyone have any anecdotal evidence that the trains are more busy due to people delaying their annual leave / holidays to August or would it be to early to tell?

The trains certainly seem busy on the South West Main Line in the evening / morning. More so than the buses are that I've used and the numbers on leave at work are higher. However this maybe due to it not being the first full week of the school holidays for some schools.

To judge by the car park at Overton on Friday, the trains from here are less busy.

Does anyone know if there's a full August timetable available? I may be going mad but I can't find one. I'm trying to determine whether any of the trains that go through Epsom originate there, which some of them usually do in the morning - I can't stand for long, so I use these because they guarantee me a seat.

It's all on real train times.

Every other Epsom to Waterloo train will start there. The Dorking to Waterloo services are not running.

They were handing out booklets yesterday. Well written I thought.

In it talks about orange stations being busier than usual and having significantly fewer services. It also said people may have to queue.

At a station like Guildford, would they have just one queue or multiple? After all some trains start at Guildford and I can't imagine them being busy unless all the commuters for fast services into London start using it. I can't imagine they would.

Also I see no compensation is being offered, bar what they do with there usual SWT compensation scheme. I don't have a problem with this. However I'm sure South Eastern did a compensation scheme but maybe that disruption was for longer or more extensive. I'm not sure.

That's been known for a while. Because they published an advanced timetable they're not breaking their Passenger Charter so don't have to compensate people for the inconvenience. Needless to say the commuters weren't happy.

So did Southeastern not announce it and break their charter or did they have a different charter? Assuming I've remembered correctly.

More on topic the 18.27 Waterloo to Alton service was fairly packed when I joined it at Clapham Junction in the 4th coach tonight. Enough to have people standing in the aisles between seats in the 5th; 4th and 3rd coaches of this 8 coach train but not enough to declassify first class. I didn't check any others. Never known this train to be so packed before. Looking at journey check there are no cancelled trains and this isn't short formed either. Let's hope this is just people delaying their holidays til next week. Mainly seems to be commuters on it, in the carriages I was in.

It's only anecdotal and is just one train this evening. Maybe other trains were more lightly loaded.

Yesterday the Basingstoke train from Waterloo seemed busy but nothing unusual. However there was disruption. I think the stopping service I got this morning was a little bit less loaded but not enough for everyone to get a seat at Surbtion in the carriage I was in..

The train to Guildford has some spear seats tonight, even with some people standing and this is coach 10.

The trains next week will be 12 coaches or 10 coaches if I understand correctly but there will be less services. So be interesting to see if passengers do go on holiday or work from home next week or what her numbers are similar to this week. If they don't heed advice then some trains will be very packed.

7.14 Guildford to Waterloo via Cobham was cancelled today and 7.35 was busy, even before it reached Surbtion. If this number of passengers travel next week then yes there will be some packed trains in the morning.

Of course there will be 10 carriage trains. Today a 10 carriage train was cancelled and the following train was an 8 carriage train. Between 7am and 8am their are currently 3 trains. 2 are 8 carriages and 1 is 10. Next week it would be like 6 carriages being cancelled as there will be 2x10 carriage trains.

I also noticed 3 bikes on the train. 1 got off at Cobham and 1 was in the way of people getting on at Hinchley Wood, as at that station the platform is on the other side of the train. However it didn't delay the train by much if at all, as far as I could tell.

I wonder if the cyclists will take their holidays from next week or maybe it was a one off journey today for them all? Note for those not familar with the services, bikes are not permitted on the trains between certain hours; the 7.35 running during one of the periods.

Still surprisingly showing a few trains in P10, I expect they might change...

Last I heard the timetable was not going to change, with the platforming plan arranged locally. Quite simply it was too late to alter the timetable, especially given the Down Main Fast is now also unavailable for at least some trains until Queenstown Road.

I suspect the reason the international platform numbers have appeared is purely geography that the timetable has been built on has been updated.

National Express how been advertising on Facebook. The advert isn't showing for me right now but it was along the lines of Waterloo is severely disrupted so avoid the ghost train fear and switch your journey to coach.

Wonder how many coaches they actually run into London from places in or near South West Trains territory. I suspect from some places at least it might be more hassel than actually using the train services themselves.

Historically, the main station and International platforms have had different TIPLOCs, so are effectively different timetable locations for train planning purposes.

The main station only had 1-19 allocated to it (with 20 added more recently when it briefly returned to operational use), and the international station 20-24.

The blockade timetable has had all trains timed using the main station TIPLOC, which doesn't recognise 21-24 as the geography historically hasn't been set up to include these platforms as assigned to the main station - I suspect that has been updated now that the layout is available.

What's TIPLOC short for?

Correct. The same amount of trains will run but Wimbledon panel will allocate platforms for services on a train by train basis. It is actually a rather complex operation.

It seems plenty of commuters took their holidays from today.
