One other thing about the Alliance plans, using class 91s is dependant not just on available 91s, but also providing the juice is switched on from Preston to Blackpool.

Although i suppose it's easier for Alliance than Virgin, being an arms length part of the DB empire they could always hire a 67 to shuttle the sets back and forth over the unelectrified sections until the wires are switched on.

There may have been, but this application has timed out, it is no longer 'approved' as suggested in the thread title.

Therefore there is a brand new application, which proposes 225 sets. Already being discussed in the thread I like to earlier.

Ah that's a shame. Still, it will be novel to see 225's on the WCML !

alliance may be better off trying to get a few 110mph electrostars at the end of the build line.., or some desiros kit them out for regional use, and just going for 110 mph operating..

Put a small buffet in the guards office area of the desiro..it would be better to get these than spending money on the 225 fleet and attempting to fit the tilt packs,

It's enlightening to read the first few pages of this thread. Nearly two years ago everyone was looking forward to new Pendolinos. The word that springs to mind for me is 'gullible', and I very much doubt if 225s will ever appear either.

Meanwhile, perhaps it might be a good idea to lock this thread, because the application it refers to is now dead. Alternatively, if the thread is to continue in parallel to the other one about the new application, perhaps it could be re-titled...
