What are the seats like on NIR 4000s? Or on CAF intercity stock, anywhere?

You can have a look at them on the CAF website, as they have interior pics up:
http://www.caf.net/en/productos-servicios/proyectos/proyecto-detalle.php?p=226
http://www.caf.net/en/productos-servicios/proyectos/proyecto-detalle.php?p=223

As for how they feel, well, a bit too hard, and they lack lateral support, as you can tell just by looking at them. Only been on a NIR Class 3000 (and that very recently), so can't comment about other units.

Watching the world go by in Sowerby Bridge refreshment rooms interesting to note the passing of Northern 158's including redecorated 158 752 with the emergency hoppers opened indicating failed air con. Seems that the refresh program doesn't extend to things mechanical like the air con. I learnt many years ago to avoid trains in warm weather.

I experienced one of the refurbished 158s (may well have been 158752) for the first time on Wednesday evening. Leeds to Selby. Usually we get a Pacer, or maybe a 153. First thoughts were - this is nice and clean and bright, and the seats are comfortable with enough leg room.

Then we set off and it was clear the aircon wasn't working. And unlike a nice old 142 there aren't many windows that open...

But I'm sure they'll get the aircon sorted eventually.

Theyve had around 20years so far.so don't live in hope.
Ian Warmesley or modern railways suggested if the windows were sealed the maintenance people may give fixing defective air con a higher priority.

I've noticed that the 319/0s and 319/2s that were on the list (May 7th) previous to this one have disappeared and some 319/3s ex GTR have been added to it. This,I guess, must be a very recent change of intention.

It was reported quite recently, a good move I think.

I wouldn't be surprised if 319372/3 end up joining the fleet at some point, either.

I can confirm 150 002 has had TSI PRM mods, as I saw it at Bristol last week
It also has had the manual front destination blind replaced with a dot matrix one, as it was saying Windsor and Eton Central until it was changed.

A couple photos of the interior of 158756 on the 0947 Leeds-Carlisle on Saturday 27/05.
The refurb was much easier on the eyes than previous photos had suggested.
There was also a 156 on the Tyne Valley Line which had the exterior repaint but the old interior! Anyone know which unit that was?

All the repainted 156's are still old interior, they only had the DDA mods' done and most were refurbished recently

I've come across 150275 at Piccadilly waiting for my train home. Not keen at all - it's just a massive expanse of appliance white with a little smudge of doom blue at each end and on the doors. The Northern logo is too big, the 'n' things are stupid and barely visible, and the web address and 'download our app' stuff has no place on a train. And it's in VAG Rounded  the cab ends don't look all too smart with yellow light covers and black cab window surrounds.
I wish Northern would take a more professional image on.
The interior looks awfully clinical in white, with harsh lighting and plain blue seats (though admittedly they look comfortable). Grab poles are turquoise and I can't quite fathom why...

It is being reported on the Great Western Livery thread that BOTH 3 car 150/0's are staying with GWR.
Does this mean Northern are getting Angel trains owned 150 202 and 150 216 and the two DMS vehicles being used as center cars from GWR instead ???

I'm very doubtful of anyone claiming certain GWR trains will not move even after the current franchise ends in 2019, given as yet there's no ITT and no franchise bids. 2 years before the current Northern franchise started who would have predicted the 323s leaving in early 2019 (not soon enough for LM's requirement for additional EMUs) and brand new EMUs being ordered? Even the so called industry experts and insiders didn't predict that!

Noted elsewhere that 156444 moved to LNWR Crewe last week, presumably the next one for refreshing? Already had the toilet Mods done.

Travelled on 156444 into Liverpool yesterday morning. The PIS announcer had a Geordie accent - appropriate I suppose as the unit is Heaton based.

Still no sign of 155346 coming back out to play. It has now been about 15 months since it last worked a passenger train.
