I hope I get to have a ride on it with Northern. I've only had it once before and that was back in 2005 from Walthamstow Queens Road to South Tottenham so more miles are definitely required. :D

Any more progress on complete refurbished trains i.e. 150/158's as it seems to have gone quiet on that front.

Don't we only have 3x 158's done and 1x 150/2 done

The slow pace makes me wonder if Arriva (DB ) are in for the duration. 15 months in and not much seems to have changed.

Must admit I got to travel on 158753 today for the first time..

I see Northern may be raving about the "as new" quality refurbs but surely it isn't just me thats looking wondering what theyve done to make them look as new.. Still have the same damaged/dirty tube lighting covers through the saloon which now look even worse with the white vestibules etc..

Not to mention still having the some of the toilets locked out/door handles removed so guessing they still aren't serviceable..

The other thing that got me was the passenger displays in the saloon.. They just had the desination displayed.. Would think they would atleast have messages about next stations and calling points but nothing..

Dont get me wrong, clearly a step in the right direction but definately wouldn't describe these with the term "as new"

1 of the other things that got me was how quick the train is showing dirt etc... This would obviously happen as it is predominantly white but the main thing I noticed was the seat covers and how quick these are showing up dirt... I do sincerely hope Northern are improving the cleaning standards and atleast trying to keep these trains looking how they do when they are rolling back in to service after the refurbs..

Yes, I assume this is a temporary thing. Waiting for a software update maybe? Does anybody know if/when next station information will be forthcoming?

One Class 155 has been 'done' as well.

Just a pity that it arrived back at Neville Hill last month and hasn't been seen since.

I did hear that it 'wasn't very well' (quote from a northern guard at Leeds when another passenger asked him about it).

Rumours floating about were that the destinations were waiting for a different system to control it where the headcode would be put in so would know the calling points if terminated early for planned engineering work etc. Instead of having a million code for different services and calling patterns

So an internet connect type system connected to a system like RealTimeTrains (of course Northern's own internal type of that)?

If this is the case will it update in service if the service gets cut back or gets additional calls?

For interest I believe Northerns class 321/322 next stop indicators use GPS so scroll to the next station where the 333'a scroll on when the doors are opened. This can give strange results of the guard reopens the doors. No idea how other classes work.

I don't think it will be that advanced and will just use the booked destination for that headcode for that day.
Yes the 321/2s are GPS
The 333s skip to the next station after the doors procedure then are timed to do the next station is XYZ then does it every couple of minutes after that

Well indeed thats 1 x 158 every 5 months. So on that basis we can expect the 158's to be completed in about 2036:lol::lol::lol:

Is it me or do the Northern logos look a bit oddly positioned?

Rear one on the image is offset towards rear passenger doors due to some sort of filling cap in the middle.

This one has a different referb, I guess due to it been done at a different place, has same dark blue seat covering with yellow handles (Same seats as ATW 150's)

Saw the inside on one of my images I was going to scrap so zoomed in and attached result below

Zoomed 150137 inside by Mike McNiven, on Flickr

Now you mention it, I've just noticed those caps in your photo.

Still, it's good to see more units appearing in the new livery.

It's one of the ex-FNW ones which had new seats fitted over 15 years ago, rather than one of the ex-LM or ex-ATN ones that retains the original seats.

So it would have looked something like this when old Northern took over
images

They are the same design of seats as on the ATW sets but in 3+2 formation and without tables or arm rests.

An observation on the former FNW sets, they will now be on their 3rd toilet as they had a new one during the FNW refit.

looking good actually.. but the picture of the cab front doesn't look nice to me at all.. hopefully once lights and full coupler is on it it might look a bit better
