Going for Tyre Turning.
Thanks, now on the Marsh I believe.
Going for Tyre Turning.
Like I said this seems to be discussed every few weeks. It's long been established Northern have agreed to take on all the 150s belonging to Angel Trains - the ones which GWR had planned to release will be taken on once GWR have finished with them, with the last few once the current lease expires (in 2019.)
You wanted to know which page in the Northern franchise agreement but there's 3 things you need to look at to confirm the above is the current plan:
1. The future fleet list in the Northern franchise agreement
2. The current fleet list in the GWR franchise agreement
3. A source saying how many 150s Angel own
It's not practical to reference everything in every forum post.
I told you the easiest way of finding fleet lists in the franchise agreement if you know which class of trains the operator has or is taking on. (Page numbers can cause confusion due to the printed page numbers often being different to the pdf page numbers.)
While I agree that something in a franchise agreement could change if both the operator and DfT sign off the change, don't forget you were using a RAIL article (RAIL articles not always being the most factually accurate) from a couple of years ago to try and argue that another poster was wrong.
You also brought up the old wives tale of a Green train means it's guaranteed to stay with GWR even after the current franchise. Where's the reference for that? Wasn't there a story about First Group being angry with a rail magazine for wrongly claiming the green GWR branding was DfT's idea when it was actually First's idea?
I'm pretty sure there's an agreement that the current GWR franchise can retain units for an additional 26 weeks (even if a lease has been agreed with another operator) if the replacement trains/wiring is delayed.
You're missing the point - they happened because DfT didn't want to interfere with Porterbrook's decision to lease the 170s to Chiltern so helped TPE by looking for whatever option they could find for TPE to not lose capacity but still forfeit the 170s.
That doesn't have any relevance to the point I was making. They were off-lease units and the DfT sign off would have been because it involved changing the franchise agreement, from the previously agreed deal. Presumably the additional leasing costs is what needed the DfT sign off.
I agree that removing units prematurely from a franchise isn't a good idea but if it's going to happen is there any need to make things even more complicated? Northern crews will be learning 170s, 195s and 331s, as well as Northern having to sort out route clearance for those traction types.
Agreed the only point relevant to the GWR livery is unreferenced and seems to be an old wives tale!

so i take it, it will now be based in bristol like 150002 is and will be working like all the other 150s?
Going for Tyre Turning.
Does anyone know why the 143s are going to St Phillips Marsh and coming back with white bogies around the wheels?

150243 on way to Wolverton by road. 1 Car today and the other one waiting it's transport.

This is becoming increasingly popular, is GWR finding it cheaper / easier by road nowadays then? The closest refurb program near me is the SWT 158/159s, and they all go under their own power up to Brush.
150243 is the only GWR unit that has the tweaked auto safety announcement at the start with a second security announcement tagged onto the end.
Just 150221 (which I haven't seen for ages!) 150249, 150261 and 150265 of the ex-Wessex units left to do, and 150216 and the left over carriages from 150209 and 150212.

On the class 800 thread there is a nice picture of 800.003 now partly green & partly white!!

800003. The 3 centre coaches are green, but each outer coach looks like they have only done a small amount on the cab.
I hope there is a livery category for that one!

Judging by other photos I've seen of the unit I think one side is still white, the other side as you say is green on the middle coaches with just a small green patch on the driving vehicle. On the class 800 thread there is a nice picture of 800.003 now partly green & partly white!!

If your going to repaint a unit, at least let them finish it before you take it out to show the public!
Glad 150243 has finally gone away, had a non-multi sticker at one end due to gangway floor being rotten!
That Non/Multi sticker must have been a reccent thing as it didn't have it in April, however I'll agree with you. It did have a massive scrape down one side and was looking long in the tooth. In a way it's a still a shame, I like the light and brighter Local Lines livery. Sadly being vinyl (and Reggie rail underneath) it's started to look shabby and tired, and there's some pretty severe corroding going on underneath it all.
Hoping 150265 is next. Had it a few weeks ago on a Cheltenham to Worcester service and it looked incredibly tatty, both inside and outside. Either that or 150249 should be next.
150221 and 150261 still look fairly decent.
There is a test programme going on, changing the livery is unimportant in that regard. It will no doubt be finished eventually. If your going to repaint a unit, at least let them finish it before you take it out to show the public!
The non-multi sticker has been on it for a couple of weeks I think.
150261 has been refreshed much more recently (FGW blue "Tarka Line" livery) and new flooring throughout. I think 150221 was the unit to have a refresh before that possibly? Due to accidental damage. Though I can't 100% remember when the damage happened. 150243 is indeed very grubby and long overdue. 150265 is in poor condition too and last time I used it, the automated safety announcements kept cutting themselves off, and then restarting a few seconds later. Beyond annoying! 150249 is a bit tired. The worst pre-refurb ones were 150266 that looked like it had a massive hole (corrosion) in the roof of one of the cabs, and 150233 had the right hand side of 1 carriage taped off with hazard tape.
