150219 was at Exeter today running the Penzance -> Cardiff -> Exeter -> Paignton -> Exmouth and back to Exeter. Looks very clean one end and quite dirty comparing it to the other, I wonder when it will be changed to the new GWR livery...

Went on a green 158 from Portsmouth Harbour to Southampton yesterday. Very nice apart from the poor legroom. Like the new information display, very clear

None of the GWR staff I have spoken to have anything good to say about the repainted 153's.

Does anyone know or have any idea when (or if) the 143s are still getting GWR Devon Lines/Visit Exeter/Tweaked FGW Local Lines liveries?

No sorry I have been wondering the same as they are extremely bumpy when you ride on them. I hope they don't because otherwise I will have them here for longer :(

Not necessarily. They may be revinyled and withdrawn quite quickly; some of the Thameslink 319 fleet have been painted for less than a year before moving out of London to pastures new!

Two completely different situations, no? I can't see GWR thinking "lets spend money on vinyls for a train we're about to withdraw?" The 319s were repainted as they went through overhaul

In this scenario I'd say not really that different - The 153s weren't intended to be staying for much longer but are steadily being repainted in either neutral White (Casper) or GWR Green.

I reckon the 143s will outlive the 153s until the cascade is complete - They can be useful units for the Devon Metro and as it appears that it'll be the 150/1s leaving first, will at least allow GWR to retain some capacity.

GWR 158766 (One of the 2x2 Car ones) has gone into Barton Hill to replace 951. Perhaps it will only take 2/3 of the time to complete as compared with a 158/9:):)
Are you sure about that? The workshop where they usually do it looked empty when I went past, unless they start the refurb in a part of the depot which is not visible from the railway.

So if 153372 is out from Long Marston, has another gone there for the same treatment? Not seen anything noted.

Don't know which 153 is there at the moment but the usual path back from Bristol to Long Marston was used on Saturday.

When I went past Barton Hill yesterday both vehicles of 158766 were visible through the open workshop doors.

165109 has just returned all nice & shiny to Reading from Wolverton.

165110 & 165111 are just about to make the trip to Wolverton, this move will also see the commencement of the 'air cooling' fitment program.

150002 is also off on its travels again this afternoon, back to SPM for a couple of months. (Hoorah! :D )

What is that bad about 150002? Every time I've used it I have found it actually rather pleasant. Certainly a nice change to the 150/1's on the Cardiff - Taunton and Severn Beach runs

Its uncanny ability to disgrace itself on an almost daily basis, usually at the most in opportune place or time :lol::roll:

I've only used it a couple of times since it's been in the west, the first it was running between Portsmouth and Cardiff and was about 30 mins late due to some sort of fault, the second, it was actually running on time... until it developed a door fault at Trowbridge.

Still, I don't think it's managed to break down at Stapleton Road or Lawrence Hill... Yet!

150002 maybe gone (Good riddance!) but is 150001 staying around? Or has that gone already?

And have both 165110 and 165111 gone to Wolverton on 5M65 today? That's rare to see a double set to Wolverton if so. Wouldn't that mean that we are now one Turbo down, maybe more?

Could that mean, we may see 165124 back at last soon?

Scud 1 is still on LTV books for now. There was a mooted plan for it to go West on Tuesday; but circumstances have changed and it may need to stick around for a couple of weeks to free up a Turbo.

5M65 is indeed a 6 car 165.

124 is still at SPM; but expect it back sooner rather than later, if the railway rumour mill is to be believed Reading will need to hang on to as many Turbos as it can for the foreseeable.
