153311 was on tempoary loan the other year and therefore did not have the cycle space.

I remember that they only diagrammed it "when pushed" as it was an unrelaible unit - and due to the cycle space issue.

Hi Folks

I done a couple of trips in and out of Derby on Saturday just gone and noticed one and a half of EMTs ex TPE 158s in the Network Rail Depot* I did not see what number the complete one was but the half was 158774 so does anyone know what they would be doing there.

I was thinking though that if the other carriage of 158774 was at Nottingham/East Croft Depot and in running order then there would be no reason why it could not be put on to another ex TPE unit to make three a three car unit at least until the other half is repaired I also saw a half of a 156 in EMTs Derby depot so the same could be done with this one,

Ie...3 car 156

Also does anyone know which TOC 153311 was inherited from as the seat covers are the same as in the 156s except the squares are yellow and it has red and grey Formica side interior panels I also noticed that the seats are somewhat lower than the chap man seats fitted to other units again does anyone have any idea why this may be.

311 and 326 were from 'one'

it was probably on shed for a few hours, for maintanence... you can't just randomly couple 2 bits together as you'd have to renumber the unit (hence why the 2 hybrid 156s running around are odd numbers) and they'd have to reconfigure it as a 3-car set, then send it to be put in to service for them to say the next day, right the other end's sorted. Just get it in to your head nothing happens quickly on the railways, simply because... well, it takes time!! :x

No need to re configure just change the front numbers plus it seems as though the 158s had been there for a while so must be some serious work being done on them as to send them to an out side depot for the work to be done as it was not EMTs Derby Depot they where in it was as i asume the Network Rail Depot* as there was lots of Network Rail Trains in there including the HST.

The 1542 out of Sheffield was a 158 and and 153 today, they'd even managed to match up two that were still in Central livery! Seems they are at least trying to strengthen a bit, if there are indeed some other units out of service at the moment.

yeah I've seen that many times with various units. They might have certain equipment there that they don't at DY Etches Park? It's like EMT's 222s go out of their usual way for maintanence at Central Rivers. Even saw a Virgin West Coast 221 in Derby RTC in the summer...

I shall be there to welcome it, I must say did email EMT last week so they must have got the message as 3 carriges is needed from MON-THURSDAY and Friday needs 4 coaches being the busiest day on these particular jouneys.

Also i had an argument with one of the drivers about it last Friday ,
Yes There is a Norhtern Service which could be used but a packed out 156 on a Local Stopping Service isn't my cup of tea.

Also i admit EMT are pretty good at runnig there Local Services but the Operation of the Liverpool-Norwich Serive lets them down big time along with the lack of cleaning inside and out.

There is no excuse for the interiors being so dirty on some units as they could employ a mobile cleanig contractor to do it at there stabling points i know id do that job for nowt apart form a Staff / Priv Pass.

No, it's not. Serco-NedRailways is a company owned by both Serco and NedRailways, which is wholly owned by NS, so you can't buy shares in them either. You can buy shares in Serco though - but they do everything, not just trains!

It was only a single 158 today I'm afraid!

Also does anyone know what happened to the 1527 Sheffield to London? My friend is currently stuck somewhere between Sheffield and Chesterfield.

"Train fault", could be a lot of things. It must have had to stop as it is a sudden delay and not progressive over time. It must have been fixed anyway as it only lost 2 minutes between Chesterfield and Derby.
It appears to be on its way now and not loosing much time.
