On one of the pictures i see a sign of a maximum speed of 70 km an hour. Now it is not clear whether it is towards Brussel or Mechelen. I see line 36; so it is Brussel.
Watch the right side of the picture.

Could the train have taken the turn out to fast, looking at the point work and the track to the point of stopping it looks very distorted.
Also trying to work out what the large mound of earth/ballast is all about, did an ohle support get knocked over.
One final thought I don't think the train took two separate routes, I.e points moving under the train. This picture from Twitter
https://twitter.com/BrusselsTimes/status/833268135566393345 shows the derailed middle carriage, not on the other line but derailed up against it. Me feeling is the train has struck some lines side equipment after running derailed which has caused the train to spin on its axis and push the train across towards the other line.
