Just saying, 323s have used Tyseley for tyre-turning before.

I think St Philips Marsh (Bristol) & Etches Park (Derby) both have lathes - sure someone will be along to correct me if I'm wrong :)

Think there's one at Doncaster somewhere too.

It does, a little one at Crown Point. Its called mobile but it seems very much installed with a length of one Crown Point road partitioned off for it.

Yet most of the DMUs which went out of service with wheelflats this autumn seemed to go to Ilford, is it that Norwich is only used if Ilford is too busy?

Is the one at Craigentinny still operational? I only ask because the sign was taken down.

Oh, I don't know then. If it is still there I can't see it not being operational, it's only 2-3 years old.

I suspect its probably the other way round TBH. Most of the time for the last few months there has been something on the lathe in Crown Point, the only things I've not seen on the lathe is a 90 or 170.

Anglia 153s and 156s have been going to Derby (Etches Park) also

it is certainly a mobile one as I know where it came from - I think it is a Hegenscheidt

Or they are both busy?

Thanks everyone for your efforts so far!

Just saying, 323s have used Tyseley for tyre-turning before.

That's really interesting, I always remember as a child thinking how strange it was when wheelsets came to (the then) Birmingham Railway Museum for turning. Maybe that was a leaf fall season tactic!

Neville Hill has one for Northern units (not sure if the EMT HST stock also uses it) and I'm sure Heaton also has one.

Gosforth Metro depot has two, although one not normally used.
