Trying not to screw up the repaints like they've done recently on the turbos and the Sleeper stock?

at least all 158s will be green unlike the 166s (eight are blue) or even the 150s- pretty sure at least three have recently been released in blue (although 150261 needs to go back for more work) with a further unit in green livery but still with a blue and pink interior

Guessing the two 150/2s from london midland with the ashbourne seating will be keeping those seats if 150001 is anything to go by

You are right, it shouldn't be difficult. Can I just reiterate the fact it is an external company that is responsible for applying the decals. If you do notice an error please report it to GWR so they can take it up with the appropriate contractor.
Even if the error is picked up on depot once the job is complete, the hours may not be there to rectify it, either contractors work hours may be up or the unit may be required back in service. We can't hold it back just to rectify an error, that would impact on the rest of the planned maintenance regime.
Personally I can't understand why it's not done at Wolverton prior to release.

Do you happen to have a list of all the decal errors you have observed and the units involved?

Quite right, but I trust the contractor who turns in this standard of performance is penalised.

I have reported the aberrations to GWR and their FGW predecessors, but to no avail - I received the usual acknowledgements, and then nothing. Given the same lack of responses about Betchworth station, I have given up trying to deal with the shower that is GWR 'Customer Services', as it never produces anything useful.

From memory at the moment, 166205 (the sole internally-refurbished unit) has the silver first class stripe at both unit ends. 166216 has the actual first class accommodation at one end, but without external labelling of any kind, while the other end has all the external first class labelling on the standard class section! I think there is at least one other, but can't recall the unit at present. I think most of the blue-liveried units which had their first class declassified but the external labelling left in situ must now have been repainted green.

Then, of course, there are the many units where the first class sections have varying numbers of window stickers ranging from none to a few windows, with no consistency. One even has a vestibule door sticker with a BR-style white '1' on a rail blue background!

What is this supposed to mean?

The 166s that emerged from Wolverton painted blue (because the new livery had yet to be adopted) after fitting of the accessible toilets will all get a coat of green paint eventually, but until the programme to update the 165s is completed, none of these 166s can be spared from traffic to visit a paintshop. I'd expect it will eventually happen when the 166s get new interiors at some point in the future.

Then write to mark.hopwood@gwr.com instead - a communication with the md's office can often get results.

No worries, just picking my sister up so had a bit of time to kill at Reading, rather annoyingly missed Tornado working a move to the SVR by about 4 minutes :(

If it's what I think it is, then it's a 166 returning from Air Conditioning works at Long Marston. Certainly some attention has been paid to the units AC there.

Definitely nothing from Reading at Long Marston and there hasn't been for ages although these paths still appear in the system.

The 166s were there for mods by Angel Trains (predominately A/C work)

Service now showing as cancelled. Must just be in the paths on an ad-hoc basis.

The only ad hoc thing is whether the paths are actually used - the pair of paths to and from Long Marston have been in the system every Saturday since spring last year and were used regularly for a period, as FGW_DID said. Although the work on the 166s has been completed, the paths are still in the system, so someone must have their reasons for keeping them there.

Some pictures of 166s on the branch at Honeybourne and Long Marston here http://petertandy.co.uk/longmarston page.html - scroll down the page to photos from April and August 2015.

Thanks for this e-mail address. I will certainly be writing to Mr. Hopwood, but it will be about the disgraceful abandonment of the multiple items of broken equipment at Betchworth before anything else!
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
I noticed last evening that 166216 now has antimacassars in the accommodation which is shown as being first class on the exterior (see earlier posts about the mix-up between interior and exterior first class elements)! All that now remains is for the internal doors to be unlocked such that they close, the application of stickers on the windows and internal doors and hey presto - first class is back where it was (oh, and remove the first class interior trappings at the other end, if any)!

I Noticed at the weekend at Totnes that the set with the displaced TF is still in service. Worked the 15:04 to Padd. Presumably still waiting a spare TS to replace it as Coach B.

150002 is booked to return to Reading on the 16/11/16:

5V50 19:08 Doncaster Works - Reading TCD (arr: 00:20)

165104 was due to return from Wolverton on Sat 12/11/16 but this has now slipped and looking like the 19/11.

AFAIK 165105 is still expected to take its place.

158957 was seen poking out of shed at Barton Hill last week so release could be imminent. There was a time gap between 158956's release and 957 going in

Has 002 arrived at Reading TCD yet? Hopefully it's path back was a little more reliable than 001s was.

158957 now back at Marsh from Barton Hill and awaiting test run

The fleet will look superb once all have been treated... smart livery and comfiest seats in the south

If the next SWT franchise decides on replacement of 158s I can see any surplus being used to prop up GWRs allocation

5V65 hasn't left Wolverton Works today either, does that mean 165104 is still being worked on? Why such a big delay?

Will 165105 still take it's place today?

Currently, they are not going green but may change if/when short/local hst plan goes ahead but this depends on whatever the cascade plan on the day is.

Today's 5V65 move from Wolverton to Reading doesn't look to be running, the routing indicates quite an odd route, via Water Orton & Tyseley and through Leamington Spa and Oxford to Reading. Was scheduled to depart at 0739 but hasn't departed yet, another cancellation maybe? I wonder whats going on? Week after week this path gets cancelled, it must be getting frustrating for GWR!
