Would it be worth adding the London Midland Class 172 services that run from Birmingham New Street to Hereford via Bromsgrove, to the frequently requested diagrams thread? As far as I'm aware, 1V15 (BHM- HFD) and 1M08 (HFD-BHM) are worked by 172's on sundays and 1V21 is on saturdays, but I can't confirm this.

The 1006 Hereford to Birmingham New Street (the inward working begins in Worcester I believe but don't quote me) and 1158 return, which I believe then does the 1400 back to Birmingham and 1800 back to Hereford, are normally 170/6s in my experience. Indeed, whenever I'm around on Sundays I don't tend to see 172s on Hereford services. Just as well for most of us, if you're going the whole way you want a table of some description and when the train's full more than one lavatory on board! The 1006 from Hereford is normally very popular indeed, even out of Hereford you get healthy loadings.

This time I've expanded my point a bit more, my post yesterday was eliminated. Maybe this time it'll survive...

Thanks for sharing that. I'll have to check my more recent pictures to see what times I saw 172s on the Bromsgrove route. Perhaps I should also look up the 170 and 153 diagrams for the Snow Hill lines as well.

The 1549 off Birmingham NS to Hereford today was worked by a 172.

The 172 New St question is being discussed here as well.

www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=131270

This is a thread re power of 170s but as often happens, one thing leads to another and we finish up discussing something else.

It was me, we naturally started discussing the performances of 170s and 172s on the Lickey.

Thanks for confirming that, I'll check the headcode.

Right I had a look, I think you meant the 1558? The headcode is 1V19 and that has been worked by 172s since 2014 on Sundays. Anyway, I think it's worth adding this to the list of requested diagrams, it's not like the ones already on the list are correct 100% of the time.

Apologies, I meant yesterday! I do believe it was the 1549 as that was the time I left a 323 on the opposite platform. It was just departing then.

The train from Preston to Barrow in Furness 2C47 arrives in Barrow at 1133, then 2C49 leaves i think at 1138 for Carlisle, is it the same loco and stock or different?
TIA

It's supposed to be different, a quick dash through the subway at Barrow to connect, but it quite often runs through if DRS want to swap the sets over.

The Chiltern weekday 68 diagrams have an error

1H33 BMO 1055 - MYB 1241 (2)
is in fact diagram (1)
otherwise you have sets dematerialising in London and rematerialising in Brum and vice-versa.

One additional Chiltern Class 68 diagram since the start of the new timetable in May not mentioned previously:

2T03 0655 Bicester Village (BIT) - Oxford Parkway (OXP)

This previously ran as ECS throughout from Wembley to OXP. The return working is 1Y12 0724 OXP - MYB.

The purpose of this new working appears to be to provide a reliable connection for Islip commuters at Oxford Parkway (there is no bus connection to Oxford.) The up working does not call at Islip so London commuters had to catch the 0714 departure from ISP arriving 0719 at OXP. On occasion the connection was missed. But in the new timetable the 0714 officially arrives 0722. Now an impossibly tight connection.

Are the 68s used by Chiltern a consistant small pool of the same locos, or do they tend to change each day/week/month?

It varies on the day, there's 6 chiltern locos (68010-015) and chiltern have about 5 sets in operation a day, although one set will work with either 68008 or 68009. These locos wear DRS livery and are switched every so often. The other 4 sets will have chiltern locos on but are switched every day, I think,

You tend to find locos stick to specific sets until they swap 68s on sundays with some going up to Crewe and some coming back from Crewe.

That's not the case. 68008 to 68015 can appear on any set at any time so it might be all silver one week and then have both 008 and 009 the next. The sets aren't switched every day either - they're just switched when they need to be.

Thanks for the Abellio Greater Anglia diagrams. As 170204 is away being repaired at kilmarnock (I believe) will it only be the "68" Diagram until the end of September or will the 37s be used as backup or when a DMU fails

37s are on hire until at least October's franchise change.

68s on hire until end of September but rumours appearing online that they maybe here slightly longer.

Thanks for that. It would be nice to see 37405 getting the Large Logo livery or another 37/4 coming over to work. I did see 37401 with "Caroline" 3 weeks ago

I am one of a small group, mostly retired, who are thinking of hanging a day out from west London on the peg of riding on one of Chiltern's "bubble cars" - Class 121 more formally, I think!

Is there someone out there who can kindly tell us the diagrams on which the bubble cars are currently working?

The most recent information I can find on the forum was the following, published by Biggus Tigus on 21 February, but it may no longer be valid of course:-

Monday to Friday

2A06 PRR 0719 - AYS 0737
2A12 PRR 0823 - AYS 0841
2A15 PRR 0916 - AYS 0934
2A46 PRR 1700 - AYS 1718
2A50 PRR 1804 - AYS 1821
2A55 PRR 1930 - AYS 1948

2P16 AYS 0746 - PRR 0805
2P23 AYS 0849 - PRR 0908
2P65 AYS 1726 - PRR 1747
2P70 AYS 1826 - PRR 1847

Many thanks in anticipation.

On a related note, does anyone have any idea how long these bubble cars are likely to remain in regular service?

Many thanks Berneyarms.

Meanwhile the secondary question still hangs - does anyone have any idea how long these bubble cars are likely to remain in regular service? (After 10/12/16 that is.)

Just wondering if anyone knows what diagrams the remaining 442s are scheduled to cover? (more specifically next Monday - 10th).
Also as these seem to be a curiosity and are apparently becoming increasingly rare (insert your own joke about future use as LHCS!) are they worth including in the main thread?

Many Thanks for any help

Aren't they already in the Southern section of the main sticky thread, it's been posted that they no longer operate on GatEx, or into Victoria, so that leaves the peak extra London Bridge services as is listed?
