Time for Sale (waiting time that is) - Hawkwind
We like to be delayed - Hawkwind/Bob Calvert
I'm waiting for my train - Velvet Southern Rail / Hawkwind
Back on the Streets (as it's quicker to walk or take the bus than catch a Southern train) - Hawkwind
Kings of Delay - Hawkwind

Helen - Nine Below Zero
Helen, I won't be home til 7. Can you see this is the life for me. Being delayed daily. When I get home, late from the job, thanks to Southern Rail!

Just been pondering a few song titles, some with suitable amendments. to reflect the recent experiences of the woebegone Southern commuter: please do add to them:-

24 Hours from Tulse Hill
London Bridge is Falling Down
Give Peacehaven a Chance (and Peacxehaven of My Heart)
Crawley Through the Wreckage
Three Bridges over Troubled Waters
(I Could Walk) 500 Miles
Redhill in the Sunset
Victoria (old Kinks classic - those of you familiar with it might imagine Ray Davies being wistfully wry about his relationship with the station in the chorus)

Ones definitely NOT on the list would be (Everybody's Doing) The Locomotion and Ticket to Ride

She's got a ticket to ride,
She's got a ticket to ri-i-ide
She's got a ticket to ride, but she can't use it!
but she can't use it!

Classic Rock :D

Money for nothin' by dire straights (because you pay fo a ticket that gets you nowhere)

Angry Hour by the Southmartins, who in the real world just happen to actually be a Beautiful South / Housemartins cover band of that name.

Anxious by the Southmartins
Anxious, I'm so anxious, Southern Rail makes me anxious.

Missing appointment by The Rolling Stones

We Shall Not Be Move (the there's no spare staff to run this train as Govia haven't recruited enough edit) - a traditional unlike Govia who aren't traditionally employing enough staff

Pack up your troubles in your shiny briefcase and wait wait wait - by an unknown artist who will soon be made redundant or moved to a new role and let go of once they are sick of it.

The Doobie Brothers - Long Train Not Running

Down around Tattenham Corner, half an hour from here
See them long trains run, and you watch them cancelled out
Without strikes, where would you be now
Without stri-i-ikes

You know I saw Mr Horton down along the tracks
He lost his timetable and won his case and he won't be giving up
Without strikes, where would you be now
Without stri-i-ikes

Well the Gatwick Express
And the Southern Railway
Got to keep on pushin' mama
You know they're running late
Without strikes, where would you be now
Without stri-i-ikes

Well the dispute keeps on rumbling
And the wheels don't go around
The steel rails are cold and hard
For the miles that they go down
Without strikes, where would you be now
Without stri-i-ikes
Where would you be now

Baby baby baby babe oh won't you sort it out
I gotta keep on moving, gotta keep on moving

Ch- ch- changes (to the timetable)
I Can See for Miles (and no train in sight)
People Are Strange (as you soon discover when packed nose to armpit with hundreds of them for an hour or so) - track from the first Doors album, in case anyone's wondering

My final contribution I think to this thread.

One for next week:-

You Ain't Goin' Nowhere - the Byrds.

As it was written by Dylan, we can assume the double negative was deliberate rather than born of ignorance.
