I thought that was the case, I like to be sure.

No doubt doing something far superior that day I take it then Mr. 313?

Well im going up to Sheffield and back on HSTs on Friday (thanks ro Mr Armstrong). First Class of course. So I don't feel the need to go again so soon, and other such reasons.

Fair enough that! I might be on the 508 farewell tour, if it does actually happen. Failing that, it'll be more chasing after Valentas :D

046 is still a good 'un.

This is why it's a bad idea to book AP if you want some Valenta action, you don't know which if any train will have a Valenta on it, nor do you know which end (unless you end up being uber lucky, getting the gen the afternoon before and manage to still find some cheap tickets).

Still, I hope you get 089 in when you go, she was proper beasty when I had her with 069 way back in August 2005.

You'll be lucky if you get a valenta, only 46 out, been chasing EMT and NXEC ones this week and out again on them tomorrow, had 46 TGS end with 49 on the rear out of St Pancras last night on the 1745 Leeds as far as Chesterfield, sounded as though notch 5 was taped out though as it didn't seem its normal self. It's now on the master cutler set with 66 (still TGS end), was planning on doing it out of Derby on the 1207 to Shef today and the 1318 to St Pancras for a run over the road to make 110 on the 1600 Aberdeen as i hadn't had that so far this week but the 1207 didn't roll up till 1235 so would have been late on the return and i would have missed 110. Did the 1304 ex Derby instead and viewed 051 thunder out the cross then had 110. Dunno which other ones were out on NXEC today as there was a points farce at Neville Hill this morning so some diagrams were covered by 91's. 108 was running around TGS end but apparently blew up at Edinburgh last night with low oil pressure, annoying as I had flagged doing it to have 080 & 123 into Kings X and 46 out of St Pan with the plan of getting it today coming south on a set from Aberdeen :(

046 is still a good 'un.

When did you last have it? Did'nt sound as loud as it has before when I had it last night, as i said above think there maybe a notch taped out, we lost some time en route to Nottingham as well.

Gutted. Even more reason not to book tickets if you're after Valentas at the moment there...

I just hope the points work at NL when I'm up that way on the 8th of November and that a Valenta (or two, I'll be happy with a pair <D) is chucked out onto the Harrogate to London job! Mind, if there's one on the Skipton I'll happily go and get her in!

Do you have HST diagrams for NXEC/EMT at all 37412? If so, could you forward them to me via PM? I'm always totally lost with diagrams over that way now, my diagram book is about 18 months out of date.

EDIT: Last had 046 on 4th October 2008, on the 1418 SHF - STP

To be honest, I don't really mind VPs. Nothing on Valentas but still pretty rateable! Specially on full power.

Oh aye, nowt particular wrong with VP185s, but compared to some of the more famous Valentas (S352 in extreme particularity; S155 and S482) they're far too quiet.

The ones at: www.thejunction.org.uk are the current ones, will be out again tomorrow, plan of attack is to hunt down 056. Also if 64 is out on EMT will go or that or if NXEC put 053, neither seem to have produced yet this week.

I'm banned on that forum, any chance you can copy-paste what it says?

Thanks, I'll have a gander at those. I'm just wondering if there's a rule with sets arriving on NL as to what they can work the following day. Like if the sets have to gave X hours on NL for maintenance or whatever before being allowed out to work, which I reckon there will be and means I'll be bowled on the 8th.

Still, who knows...

Indeed so, but more of a ching and the NXEC ones are of an endangered status now, so getting them (had them all before but that's not the point) in again for the last time (I doubt I'll get them again afterwards ) is extremely high on my agenda.

EDIT: Plus I still need a Valenta Skipton - Leeds and Harrogate to Leeds, not to mention Brough to Hull.

I thought 108 & 110 were due to head to Brush in the very near future leaving just 51, 53 & 56 left so the chances of you getting a valenta are going to be very very slim.

I know, which is why I wish I wasn't on bloody advance-purchase tickets coming home the other week when they were paired on the Tyne Valley

Chasing the FGW Valentas was so much easier...

Yeah, not bad at all VPs, can still make you think 'phwoar' hehe. We'll be on the 12:25 St. Pancras - Sheffield and the 19:18 Sheffield - St. Pancras on the way back whilst probably doing a Sheffield - Chesterfield return in the process.

We'll also have a non-enthusiast with us  who's along for the whole basher experience. ;)

did that with my mate who'd never been on a train before - used to think they were crap like all no-brainers, but was stunned by the free drinks (this is MML days of course) and the fact there were no seatbelts, he was really chuffed with his meridians

The only HSTs that were in the morning off Nottingham back then were the 0529 and 1030 (too early and too late respectively) unfortunately :(

Well, TBH, in February 2007 thanks to my trip up the ECML being caped due to bad weather I ended up on the 1925 STP - LDS, traction being provided by 43049 'Neville Hill' and 43072 'Derby Etches Park'. Later on during the journey I was near 072 and as we left Chesterfield, I could have sworn she sounded like a Valenta! :o

We'll also have a non-enthusiast with us  who's along for the whole basher experience. ;)

Does this person know anything about bashing currently, or is it a learn-on-the-day jobbie?

Hope whoever it is enjoys the bash!
