I cannae find any timetables for the Latour de Carol end.
Have they pulled the whole thing up in order to put fancy trains on it from Barca to Toulouse or sommat ?
Also, I saw a pic of open carriages like on the Bernina in the summer (11:20 train I think). Does anyone know if that's just for French people ?.

merci bien. That's just the line itself though, I am trying to work out how I get from the other end, short of coming all the way back.
There's supposed to be a TGV running along this at some stage, which obviously means they are going to have to knock the rails a bit closer as invasion is no longer considered anything but ridiculous.

The French side timetable will be under Midi-Pyrenees on the same TER site.

The Spanish side is on the Rodalies (Cercanias) Barcelona pages of the RENFE site, as it's part of the Barcelona outer suburban network.

The only reference I can find to a TGV route is to a link via Narbonne connecting to the LGV Med. In other words, the same route as the motorway.

And the open carriages are first come, first served, no passport checks. Take sunscreen!

gracias. but this is my problem, nothing shows up, not on bahn, not on renfe, not nothing.
I dont want a TGV, I'd like a not too full but as clapped out as you like local train. But a train of any description will do.
To be specific, it's the spanish side I have trouble with.

yes, that's it.
So we now know it's called R3, and what the Catalan is for any of these.
But still no firm evidence that it's in use, and just as importantly, when

might as well stick this in here.
My next conundrum is attempting to tackle Mont Blanc via the South face, or from Italy/Aosta and get a bus through the tunnel du mont blanc (which I have).
The line in theory continues up to Pre Saint Didier, but trenitalia doesnt give any times.
Is it game over at Aosta ?.

No, as you have discovered, the main RENFE site doesn't cover the suburban networks, so bahn.com doesn't have them either.

There are similar issues in Italy with non TI lines. However, this isn't the problem here, sadly; it is indeed game over.

Ah, I had this problem with the train up to Tirano once, which Bahn doesnt have and wants s to send you via zurich. But at least trenialia did have that.
This will be camp for the night, first bus and off to le nid.
OK, ta.

How's your Italian? it can't be any worse than mine but a headline of

Ferrovia, ad Arvier il “funerale” della Aosta/Pré-St-Didier: stop alle corse il 24 dicembre

does not look good.

Article here http://www.lastampa.it/2015/12/15/e...l-dicembre-3yrDtt2gfkJQ2Qr9dAAFrJ/pagina.html

oh, there's some bad words in there arent there.
I may still go this way, two tunnels through the rocks, and get to camp in Italy for the night.

BTW, There is a nice bus from Tirano to Erodo, so I am making that an excuse to T-shirt it back over the Bernina for the 4th time in order to tee up the Brenner on the way to Mount ****. (ed, it's called that, i guess you knew).
