NR havent cleared 110mph running. The units are capable and have been modified to do so but timings are still 100, and 110 still hasnt been sanctioned

Is gWr a Stenning job? It doesn't look much like one.

I'm not sure, but one could be forgiven for thinking he's the only person that the industry considers capable of designing liveries. I'll do a snazzy modern version of that L&Y livery posted above, with DDA-compliant door highlights, for 10% of whatever Stenning charges.

Apparently they will introduce a neutral livery i.e. one not consisting of First Group colours. I've heard a suggestion it'll be Buckingham Green with gold lettering but whether that's actually a proposal they are considering or whether someone had guessed that from the GWR livery is a different question.

The livery involves a star of some sort, think the connection is northern star. It has been mentioned within internal gossip - but not confirmed!

All Windermere trains are still shown as "TP" in RTT all the way through until June. Surely this is not correct?

I thought it looked good on the Sprinters but didn't really work on the Pacers (they didn't deserve gold stars anyway ;)) The 156s and 323s never got that livery as they weren't repainted before First Group bought out GW Holdings so they got the First 'Barbie' livery.

Going back to TPE apparently the winning First bid proposed more new carriages than either of the failed bids from Kelios and Stagecoach.

I remember seeing 323s in that livery, found a couple of pictures on Google - e.g. this one, courtesy of railpicsgb

Yes they have.

The relevant notices have been posted in the cases for the attention of the relevant staff at the relevant depots.

Is that a picture of a greyhound? Good to see there is a sense of humour! It would also appear that the notice 'went live' on the 18th of Feb, but as far as I can see, everything is still timetabled for 100mph. Would this mean that units are doing 110mph all the time and then having extended dwell times, or are they only using it when running late?

Probably similar to the 395's on HS1, so normally they would go at 100mph but if running late use the extra 10mph to make up time.

I was on a 350/4 today which certainly did 110mph between Wigan and Preston.
It was 4 minutes late, and picked up at least a minute by Preston.

Must have been a short lived livery on the 323s then. I recall some of the 322s having the blue and gold star livery which must have also have been short lived.

At least one of the 322s kept the gold star livery long after leaving the North West, I remember seeing it at the Cross years after. I think they might even have briefly run in those colours in Scotland.

Branding neutral is the DfT way to go....

It doesn't show up too much in that photo, but the new logo vinyls background don't match the colour of the TPE livery. I noticed this yesterday after getting off a 185 at Leeds. Close up it looks rather sloppy, even though it's probably only going to be a temporary measure.

It indeed doesn't match - it's more FGW plain blue than the purple hue of the train.
The white and pink sections of Dynamic Lines are also visible through the temporary vinyls in some places.

323224 appeared in the 'gold star' livery circa 1999 and held this 'til 2004. 233 gained matching vinyls following accident damage when a vehicle from then stopped 224 was substituted.

Talking about matching. Remember this interim measure in 2004:

There were a few later additions to the fleet in both CT green and RR Express colours which had the same treatment. They looked even worse, especially the Central units!

The Central ones didn't get mismatching blue vinyls though

While some of the TPE 158s got CT vinyls when they left TPE. (I can't find a good picture.)

Network Rail have given authority for the 350/4 to run at 110mph in 4 and 8 car formations. 110mph running has been granted and all 10 units are now permitted to run at 110mph.

If it's a 110mph unit there is nothing to say they have to stick to 100mph unless running late.

The probably *ahem* did match the production pigments based on the original print run blueprints etc, however the current vinyls are almost 9 years old and looking tired, battered and sun bleached faded so the difference is obvious. The trouble with attempting to match all 153 vehicles would be an astronomical cost in comparison, as some units seem to have faded more than others, and bear in mind 108's vinyls are also different. As you say tho it is a temporary measure until the big reveals take place, which will probably a while yet seeing as tho the company seems to be sworn to secrecy at the mo.

Rumour has it on the last day of GNER when trains were rolling into Kings Cross and being restriped with NXEC white they attempted to relabel a GC HST by mistake....

The RR liveried units were the former VXC 158's used on swindon-cheltenham-Birmingham workings which should have been extended to Paddington using 5 car HST units but SRA remapped XC, decimating the network imho! Oddly enough tho, the CT units -dubbed green goddesses internally- turned out to be the more reliable units!

Not long after I passed out I was taking a 158 to Middlesbrough, gets to leeds and the micklefield route was shut but I didnt sign Castleford at the time so controls plan was to couple me to the following scarborough where the other conductor would effectively take the train on my behalf. Cue controls chargrin when I rang them up to inform them a 185 had rolled in!

Fortunately to controls saviour micklefield opened about 5 minutes later!

Good point, they are starting to look a little jaded outside and in.

I wonder if Arriva are planning something similar to try and steal some 185's to start running on future Northern Connect services..... ;)

The maroon stripe at the bottom was a different shade to the
original maroon.

It then got further 'enhanced' with EMT logos...

I don't remember that at all and was working the last night of the GNER services.
