On getting off the Arriva service we watch as our desired service pulls out at 1930 so we nip over to the Anchor Inn for a pint (or two) of Marstons Banks and stumble back around the corner to High Street Stand 10 and depart the fine town of Burton on Trent at 20:30 slightly more inebriated than when we arrived on Trent Barton x38 service to Derby, Victoria Street (Stop B16) arriving at 2100 on Friday evening.

Hate to point this out but you may have missed an earlier bus service, the transpeak 199 to the airport runs almost through the night. Just checked the timetable and there is one at 4:30am on the Saturday which runs to Manchester Airport.

Ooh I missed this! In that case let's take said service at 0430 to Stepping Hill (Dialstone Lane), arriving there at 0518 on Saturday morning.

We change onto Manchester's tram network at this modern, new interchange. At 09:47, a Line F tram takes us South to Manchester Airport; we arrive at 10:03 on Saturday morning.

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
from Wythenshawe Interchange we then board Stagecoach in Manchester service 104 at 09:58 and alight at Chorlton upon Medlock, Higher Cambridge St/Dental Hospital at 10:50am on Saturday morning.

We take the six minute walk past the side of the Dental Hospital to the bus stop outside the University Shopping Centre where we board the 1059 First Manchester service 18 to Middleton bus station that arrives there at 1142 on Saturday morning.

We decide to head to the seaside, and catch the Arriva North East X4 service at 09:45 going all the way to Whitby Bus Station, arriving there at 11:33 on Sunday morning. Good time for some nice fresh fish & chips.

The X93 runs every half an hour in the summer but seeing as we are outside of the summer timetable we can only stuck to the hourly departures at xx:36, which I suppose gives us more time to eat our fish and chips at this lovely little seaside resort. We continue further south along the coast as we board the 1236 Arriva North East service X93 to Scarborough (Railway Station), arriving there at 1338 on Sunday afternoon.
