I would of rang up instead of email.

Well, in the end they sent me a reminder email that said I may lose out if I dont book a slot, so I just booked one. Will have to take day off from work which isn't ideal but needs must.

I passed the telephone interview yesterday. As I applied for both York and Manchester I was told it would apply to both.

I'm a little confused like others on here, I was told before the interview began that 'if you pass this you will go through to the assessment stage' but in the email it mentions only top scorers going through?
It looks like a generic email so can't be sure.

The email I received after the interview put it quite clearly I think, in that the intention is to put everyone who passes through the test, though in certain situations more people pass the interview than they can test (budget / time constraints?) and in this case they test as many as possible, which are selected by interview scores.

In this instance the people who have passed the interview but don't get tested are kept on file for a period of time so you can can resume from this point if another vacancy comes up.

Because there are realistic limits on the number of tests a company can pay for when it comes to recruitments, at least they aren't adjusting the telephone interview scores to limit the number of people who get to testing, so it seems to be being managed as fairly as possible.

They put a lot of people through to stage 1 testing last year, I would estimate 200+. Only a small number made it through to stage 2 due to the enhanced pass requirement.

Has anyone who would need to relocate been invited to a telephone interview?

Guys there is some intense competition on this one... I just found out that for York, there is 1 (one) position. Cant be more than 2 or 3 max each for the other depots

I would have to relocate, currently in Barnstaple, N.Devon. I made sure to say in the interview that I would be happy to relocate.

Putting lots of people through to stage 1 sounds promising, even if it requires an enhanced pass.

There is 10 across the 4 depots, so apparently 1 Newcastle and 1 York =2.
Then do Manchester and Liverpool get 4 each or Majority to one or the other.

Had the phone interview, had the passed email. (Although thought I was poor). So a waiting game now I guess. Anyone know whats next (if we are chosen)? Manager interview or assessments?

Edit: I just looked on the First site - its assesments next.

Good luck to everyone.

I passed my phone interview today, I was beginning to think I wouldn't get an invite, but received an e-mail earlier this week.

Good luck to anyone who is still waiting.

I've already passed the OPC, got an email for DM interview this morning; no date as yet, I assume the next email will be after other candidates have gone through assessment.

Hi buddy

How did you let them know you passed the assessment, did you still fill in an application?

Just received my email to say I've made it through to the Assessment Centre next Monday. Thought I had made a right mess of the phone interview.

I passed everything on the last intake, but lost out on points in the DM interview despite hitting the benchmark. I was pooled, but that ran out in May, and I had to start the process afresh.

Well done; I also received the same e-mail yesterday, as I have passed the tests previously.

I would expect the DM interviews will take place early next year as it's an April start.

Just got an email to say well done I have passed the assessments, hang fire to see if I get shortlisted for interview. Interesting because I have passed the tests privately with OPC (never with FTPE) but never knew my score (as OPC will not tell you), and I thought FTPE had enhanced pass marks, and even extra tests beyond the national standard ones.

I dont know if this means they have actually checked my tests with OPC or not, or if they will check my scores at a later date, maybe find my scores are below their standard or even that I have missing tests and therefore not progress me.

I have passed: TRP1, TRP2, Bordon, TEA-Occ, WAFV, 2HAND, ATAVT and MMI and put this on my application.

Anyone know how it works with FTPE, can give me an insight?

I got my email this morn too

Dear Matthew,

We are pleased to advise that you have passed your assessment for the role of Trainee Train Driver.

Should you be shortlisted, the next stage of the process will be an interview for which you will be contacted by email in due course to confirm the details.

That is worded differently to the one that I received yesterday. There was no mention of short listing, just that I would be contacted with an interview date in due course.

Yerman sounds like you have a more 'promising' sounding response than some. I got the exact same email as Matt

I was under the impression that Transpennine used the enhanced level. There did used to be a Driver Fault Finding Test but they might have ditched that with the new testing regime in 2013. I would never be sure personally because I have never got past the telephone interview.

No mention of shortlisting on mine either:

Just got my email for assessment next week. Am I correct in thinking some people have already taken assessment day and passed. seems I'm late to take it.

I wouldn't worry about the wording too much, it's done down in central recruitment. You'll hear from TPE about the next stage. Interviews will be likely Jan / Feb time.

TPE do require enhanced. I passed my assessments with a different TOC earlier this year. Applied for this position only to be told even though I have passed the industry wide assessments they require candidates to a quire an enhanced mark to become a driver for TPE.
