It was mentioned as a half-joke on the PM programme with Eddie Myer on Monday I think too. Personally I find Peston's communication style quite hard to concentrate on
Me too (I think it was his intonation), and his analysis was somewhat suspect at times, but all credit to the bloke for trying to make economic and business news interesting!

He appears to have guidance on keeping his former extravagant arm movements in check when talking which certainly were something that viewers seemed to find a distraction when he spoke.. He has certainly changed his hairstyle in recent times.

Best piece of news I've heard from the BBC in as long as I can recall, tough luck ITV viewers .......

Surprised to see much Peston hate, I like the guy and have always found his pieces on the BBC news really interesting. Not overly bothered though, I don't watch enough tv to care that much!

I appreciate his intellect, and ability to explain matters clearly. His general appearance really shouldn't bother me but I do find it off-putting, rather as if his personal vendetta against BBC conformity/tradition creates a diversion to what I'm trying to understand.
I don't hate him and he is normally alright but I just don't quite get on with his style of delivery. Nothing against the analysis itself mind you.

Yes, I think she fits in much better on GMTV or whatever junk she's doing now.
I enjoy Peston's style of delivery. It seems to suit 'Today' and 'Broadcasting House'. Economic affairs can be quite interesting, but it does need to be delivered with a bit of panache. I will be sad to see (or rather, hear) him go.
And good on him for not wearing a tie. Complete waste of fabric IMO.
Now, if someone can consign the traditional business suit to history - an even bigger waste of money and doesn't improve the attractiveness of any man.

Laura Kuenessberg was back with the BBC just over 2 years after leaving, much to my delight
As a person I like Robert, he comes across as being sincere, as someone who has lost their wife I have a lot of respect for him keeping going when his wife passed away too.

I suspect in recent months (maybe longer) he's just stopped giving a ****. Rather like Paxman.
If TV broadcasting is going through anything like as many changes as the printed and online press, there's going to be a lot of disillusioned people out there. The BBC is also well known for trying to move people on to new things (or out the door) to let in new blood, which probably doesn't help.
But it's not easy to just leave and retrain as a plumber, or whatever, so maybe a move to ITV is for sanity reasons. If that doesn't work out, worry about things then.
I walked out of a job I'd been doing for many years because of management issues. Very much a case of doing the right thing for my own sanity, and I'm glad I did.

As I never watch the BBC I had to search who this bloke was, why is a journalist leaving one channel for another deemed newsworthy as it happens all the time.
