Strictly speaking on Advances it should be to the exactly destination on the ticket. That said, it is unlikely the gateline on Liverpool South Parkway is going to be bothered. Note: LM charge the same price from Liverpool South Parkway as they do from Liverpool Lime Street. TPE charge a few pense less from LPY. Anyone know about East Midland Trains?

It is reasonable to assume Manchester United play IN Manchester , particularly for any foreign visitors, of whom there are many, not always on match days.
Yet 'MUFC Halt' does not come under 'Manchester Stations' as you need a separate ticket to get there from Man Piccadilly/Oxford Road , as I found out to my cost recently !!

Technically, Manchester United FC are not from Manchester!!! Both the MUFC Stadium and the associated station (MUFC halt) are in Trafford Borough, as opposed to the City of Manchester.

Warrington Borough Council seems to think Birchwood is part of Warrington ...

So you just ask them for the fare? not a PF or threaten to prosecute them?

The best case scenario is that it was an honest mistake. Asking for the balance is a fair way of resolving that mistake.

It is regularly "Falkirk Stations" that causes confusion in my neck of the woods as passengers think that it includes Polmont [PMT], Camelon [CMO], & Larbert [LBT] too. In a lot of cases however the fare is the same and, although technically invalid, there has been no revenue loss so most of the guards up here will generally let it go with a gentle admonishment and some advice to always purchase to/from the furthest destination/origin that is the same price on their line of route.

Note: LM charge the same price....TPE charge a few pense less.... anyone know about East Midland Trains?

A few pence more if they can get away with it! <D
