It appears to me that the new franchise is problematic in many ways:
- they refuse to recognise the Local Scottish Routeing Guide Easements despite Scotrail confirming their validity.
- they have removed Advance fares for local seated passengers between Mallaig/Fort William and Glasgow/Edinburgh hugely increasing costs for local passengers using the sleeper train as a normal 'day train'.
- the trains are very unreliable.
Well you cant blame the stock entirely on Serco, but I have to admit maybe there maintenance arrangements could be better? The easements thing is quite frankly a disgrace, no way to carry on and I hope being challenged by someone. Cheers for the heads up on the advances, I just thought I kept missing them. Interesting that an advance isn't available Mallaig Edinburgh, where the first leg would be with Scotrail. Another example of tourists first, locals second!
