I bought an annual travel card zone 1-5 from chiltern and want to travel on weekends on their network. I was told I did not need to buy a ticket but show them my card but it's on oyster.

http://www.chilternrailways.co.uk/existing-customers#special benefitsFree weekend travel on all routes
When you buy a monthly or longer season ticket or Travelcard season ticket, originating from a Chiltern Railways station, valid on our services, and worth £150 or more a month (or £1,500 or more a year), you get FREE travel at weekends and on Bank Holidays across our entire network (except for the Bicester Village Shuttle Bus). You must buy your ticket from Chiltern Railways to receive this benefit. If your Season Ticket is on an Oyster card you must also have your paper record card to travel free at weekends and Bank Holidays. This offer does not apply on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
If you have an annual oyster then the gold record card should show you have a qualifying ticket. I usually just show the record card and the oyster and only ever have an issue at Banbury Station
What might that issue be...?
A couple of members of gateline staff don't like people using free travel if they have seasons on Oyster, and one time I was trapped arguing my case for some time despite there being notices up around the station advertising the benefit and me having the stamped leaflet confirming the benefit.

If you have any further problems, write to Chiltern's Customer Relations team. If it's not "captured" in that way (or at a "Meet the Manager" session), the company can't act on it.
