But some late night Virgin services are still coming up from Euston, and we make it to New Street in plenty of time to catch the 00:36 Virgin Trains service 9G48 to Wolverhampton, which arrives there at 01:02 on Tuesday morning.

New Street station is 0.7 miles away from Colmore Circus, and is a fifteen minute walk away, so a train schedule to depart seventeen minutes after our arrival is very tight.

Furthermore, Birmingham has plenty of buses in the night. The 50 and the 97 run 24 hours.

Because we're just making up our own scenarios and in the second largest city in the country I'm not convinced there is not a single mode of transport between 0019 and 0616.

It's only 0.5 miles to New Street, walking. Google Maps for some reason takes you the long way around, but there is a walking route to an entrance just 10 minutes away and at 0.5 miles, I deem it to be perfectly valid.

I have just checked Google Maps and agree that the route from the bus stop to New Street Station (current entrance) is valid despite Google Maps recommending we walk the long way round.

Besides wouldn't we sooner be exploring the Lake District rather than the Black Country!

FWIW, I had subsequently found the night buses, however if you'll look at my post I stated that there were "Not many (if any) buses". I subsequently found them, but I didn't deny that they existed! NXWM don't have a dedicated night bus timetable/map as far as I can see.

As you say, Birmingham is the second biggest city, therefore has quite a lot of bus timetables to look through before you stumble across the two services that seem to run 24 hours a day! At the pace this game moves at times, you have to make your post quickly or else quite a lot of research goes to waste!

Just from Bus Stop 1 there are services to Carlisle, Cockermouth, Penrith and Workington before the Lancaster service.

I was under the impression that the following rule applied:

You shouldn't wait for more than two hours after the first available service (to any destination) has left, after allowing for the minimum interchange time.

Sorry I made a typo. It was supposed to be the 1126 from Kendal, arriving at Lancaster at 1412. My post has duly been amended.

There's an X4 service to Penrith at 11:20. If we read the above, it's clear that we must not wait more than two hours after the first available service to any destination has left. If we assume the 11:20 is the next service (there may be others), we must leave before 13:20, therefore I'd agree that the move above is invalid.
