Toffee Apple - Early style class 31?
Theatre Box - Route indicator
Stencil - As in a calling on signal would have a "C" in an illuminated box.
Screw it down - Apply the handbrakes, derived from brakevans & steam loco's were applying the handbrake involved screwing down a handbrake wheel.

Caterpillar:A class 323 emu in central trains livery????

It was Centro livery <D

And, the Toffee Apple referred to the style of the power handle, looking like a toffee apple.

Heres a few to guess:

Bendydildo -
V1 Flying Bomb -
Coffin -
Duck -
Fred -
Dred -
Teddy Bears -
Duck Tape Advertisement -
Bombs (great for stating theres bombs on the train in front of a large crowd of passengers) -
Ded -
Celtic -
Dolly Mixture -

And some better abbreviations:
TTI should be renamed Traveling Inspector of Tickets (better abbreviation)
TPO stands for Tug and Pull Out (recent mishap with some apparatus)
NVR = Not Very Reliable
AWS Automatic guess the rest!

You're halfway there. How would you differentiate between an early and a late Ped?

O L Leigh

The 'Toffee Apples' are SKINHEADS. (as previously posted, their power handles looked like Toffee Apples :P)

In the cab with the paper
Meld: That's one meaning, but not the one I was after. To give some context, you might be asked to work a passenger train "cars".

HHFool: Nope. It's a class of loco.

Boil in the Bag: I'm one. ;)
