...which of course means that it is not loco-hauled on a Saturday,On a weekday, the 10:25 Carnforth to Barrow is a Northern Rail service.
On a Saturday, the corresponding connection at Carnforth is slightly earlier, at 10:09 (giving a 9 minute connection time), and is a Transpennine Express service.
...which of course means that it is not loco-hauled on a Saturday,
as it is on Mondays to Fridays.
(on Saturdays, the only loco-hauled services south of Barrow
are the 11:56 Carlisle to Lancaster and 17:31 return)
MARK
Hi mark
In Carlisle at the moment
Any Cumbrian coast locos planned to arrive or depart apart from the one you mention at 17:31
There's is a sticky at the top of this section of the boards with all of the diagrams:

Hi
I can't seem to see that sticky ?
I was thinking there was a loco hauled coming into Carlisle today at 17:30 ?
Am I wrong ?

37606 seemed to be having trouble on last nights 17:31 from Lancaster. Sat at Arnside for around 20 minutes then proceeded at 40mph through to Barrow with 37402 providing power from the back.
I have seen a Sellafield nuclear flask train hauled by a single 37 - a failure of one of these could already disrupt Cumbrian Coast passenger services.Highlights the advantages of 'top and tail', even though it's not the longer term solution. I don't want to go on sounding like a prophet of doom when the DBSO's are introduced, but I hope that the reliability of the 37/4s will be top notch on these services....

It was 633F on 9 June - 37218 heading south to Crewe with 2 flasks. It can't have been loaded with one loco ... standard practice for loaded nukes to run with two locos.
You can say the same for any trains with only one traction unit mind ... and failures happen at much busier spots than on the Cumbrian Coast!
Anyone know if there has been more swaps since 218 went on it and which set is which if not.
409 and 606 worked the 1004 Preston today, with a tatty BSO in VT livery. There was a queue of WCML trains ahead so we left Lancaster 18 down and it stayed that way. The connection wasn't held, not surprisingly.
