There are seven nightbuses serving Camden, as well as the 27, the 88, the 134 and the C2 which operate 24-hours a day. So that's ELEVEN buses. Surely one of these is available within the next two hours before the first tube of the day?

We change up to the Piccadilly Line, only to see an empty tunnel. We wait and board the next train along arriving at 0605, going to Heathrow Terminal 5. We arrive at 0700 on Wednesday morning.

Well, we do try to go to New York, but having forgotten our passports we have to turn back. We walk over to Stop 7 and catch the 07:17 London Bus (operated by Abellio) service to Hayes, Blyth Road where we arrive at 07:52 on Wednesday morning.
Beaten again...

Quick transfer onto the 08:46 Southwest Trains service 1L17 to Exeter St Davids. We don't go quite all the way, however, and alight at Exeter Central at 11:37 this Wednesday Morning.

There is a chance to get a brand new station in the book now as we board the 1153 First Great Western service towards Exmouth, but we alight at Newcourt where we arrive at 1201 on Wednesday afternoon. At least they have their new station open, here in Nuneaton we have to wait until September for ours!

NB. Newcourt station is due to open on Thursday June 4 2015, so I think it counts. Times are in RTT anyway for June 10,which is the date I chose.

Again, are there not any services whatsoever before 1845?

Transportphoto states the following in the rules:

It wouldn't be reasonable nor realistic, for someone to post a move which involves waiting at Clapham Junction for an hour and a half; trains pass through here much more frequently... whilst waiting two hours at a station such as Stowmarket would be more realistic as the station doesn't see frequent services.

I think it's fair to say that Southampton comes under the former. There are THIRTY rail services that depart before 1845, as well as a fairly large bus network by First Hampshire.

I do think these large gaps are unreasonable personally. Furthermore, my post regarding Camden Town (post #4504) was completely ignored also.

I would be tempted to agree with you, Dan. Although it is the first direct bus serving Heathrow Terminal 4 in the time period specified, there are quite a few non-direct services available which would have been faster, and therefore I would argue that waiting for almost two hours for a direct coach would not be realistic.

Having said that, we're in Heathrow Terminal 4 so I don't see why we shouldn't board a Piccadilly line service (leaving at 20:43), and ride the train to Covent Garden, where we arrive at 21:44 on Wednesday evening. As we leave the station, we are reminded that it's an exit only station.

OK everyone, in retrospect I shouldn't have made that Southampton - Heathrow move as posted.
My only mitigation is I had only a short time to make a post, I fancied a run on National Express & overlooked the huge selection of other options at that time of day.
Doubly inexcusable as normally I'm also annoyed by excessive breaks, early knock-offs and failing to fully use all-night buses.
So apologies, uncharacteristic error, will try harder etc etc - and we play on from Post 4517

Yes, partly my bad.

In an attempt to redeem myself, I guide us across the road to the Hammersmith and City Line station at Hammersmith, where we board the Hammersmith and City Line itself, our train departing at 22:16. We take the train the whole way and arrive at Barking at 23:15 on this cold Wednesday evening.

We also take note of the Swissair Embraer RJ190 parked at the gate. It leaves for Zurich in two hours.

We then take the short walk to the train station of the same name, and use this opportunity to clock a new franchise. We end up on the 0642 TfL Rail service, and we ride it all the way to its terminus of London Liverpool Street. We arrive at 0657 on Thursday morning.
