We enter into the railway station and find there is just one train service still available, so we board the 2216 FGW service to Exmouth that arrives there at 2359 on Tuesday evening.

Having arrived on the last service, it's an overnight stay in Exmouth.

The next day we proceed to Stop B on Exmouth Parade to board Stagecoach South West's Service 57 at 0606, arriving at Exeter Bus Station at 0642 Wednesday morning.

We take the 0818 Dartline Coaches 173 service to Moretonhampstead Court Street Car park where we arrive at 0938 Wednesday morning

We then take the 0945 Country Bus service 359 to St Thomas (Barley Lane) that arrives there at 1022 on Wednesday morning.

Since we are beyond our comfortable walking distance from central Exeter, we wait at Barley Lane then board a Stagecoach South West bus on service 6A at 1107, arriving at Exeter St David's Station at 1112 on Wednesday morning.

We then catch the Stagecoach South West service H departing at 1127 at alight at Pennysylvania North Park Road where we arrive at 1140 on Wednesday morning.

However, after finding nothing of value except a car wrapped around a lamppost, we take a pleasant eight-minute walk down to Lower St Germans Road, where the 1205 Stagecoach SW B service is waiting. For once, a bus in Exeter is early. We duly board, showing our PLUSBUS ticket and ride it to the Doctors Surgery. Our main destination, Pinhoe station is opposite the stop.

We check our watch. The time is 12:19 on this scorching hot Wednesday 20th May.

We take a pleasant 6 minute stroll to the bus stop on High Street where we next board the 1352 Stagecoach South West service 57 to Brixington (Churchill Road) that arrives there at 1439 on Wednesday afternoon.

Next is a 0.3 mile walk along Churchill Road taking 5 minutes to reach the St John's Rd / Churchill Road bus stop in Withycombe Raleigh.

Here we wait for Stagecoach South West's Service 99E, leaving at 1450 and arriving back where we started first thing this morning - The Parade, Exmouth (Stop A) at 1500 Wednesday afternoon.

We casually stroll the 7 minute walk to the bus stop on Fore Street, where we board the 1615 Stagecoach South West service 4 to Shute (Taunton Cross) that arrives there at 1733 on Wednesday afternoon.

There are several bus stops on Fore Street. However, based on the fact you've stated the service you have used departs at 1615, I have worked out that this is at the Co-Op in Heavitree. In spite of this, this is 0.6 miles from the bus stop where the 57 stops at the hospital.

There are plenty of buses that depart from inside the hospital itself so there shouldn't be any problems in finding a connecting move.

After running around the corner only to be greeted by a bus leaving, we decide to waste an hour milling around the hospital. We return to our stop, and board the 1700 56A bus, operated by Stagecoach SW, and as we fancy some planespotting, we choose to alight at Exeter International Airport. The time is 1720 on Wednesday afternoon.

After doing an Ian Poole at Redruth, we leave the station the next morning to catch a coach: the 0805 NatEx 404 service to Penzance Ferry Terminal. We arrive at 0855 on Thursday morning.

We do not need a passport - the Isles of Scilly are in the UK

As somebody who has wanted to get us to the Isle of Man I can't resist this opportunity to escape the mainland.... so we board the Scillonian and depart at 0915 on our way to the Isles of Scilly where we arrive at the port of St Marys at 1200 on Friday.

A lack of onwards public transportation forces us to head back to the mainland, so we re-board the Scillonian and head back to the ferry terminal in Penzance on the 1628 voyage. We return to the mainland at 1910 on Friday evening.

As somebody who has wanted to get us to the Isle of Man I can't resist this opportunity to escape the mainland.... so we board the Scillonian and depart at 0915 on our way to the Isles of Scilly where we arrive at the port of St Marys at 1200 on Friday.

Can I call a HOLD here, as I have sent a PM to a forum quizmaster to determine if sea transport to the Scilly Isles is valid. The rules of this relaunched quiz have no rule section upon this matter.

For those contestants on the ORIGINAL quiz who can remember such matters, it was decided that certain local ferries such as those in the Falmouth area were acceptable and in fact were used on a regular basis, but sailings to the Scilly Isles , Orkney Isles, Shetland Islands and all the Cal-Mac destinations in the Outer Hebrides were not allowed.

I would have thought that there was some onward transport in Redruth without waiting 17 hours - whether the island trip is in the rules or not that sort of wait isn't.

There was - I had a move from the station forecourt to Falmouth within 20 minutes but was beaten by the move to Penzance Harbour. Both of our moves were timed at the same time time but mine came up second, so I changed it for a leap to the Scilly Isles.

After an hour exploring Newlyn we then take the 2227 First Devon & Cornwall service 6A and return to Penzance Bus Station where we arrive at 2236 on Friday evening. Its amazing all these late night bus services in Cornwall. All our buses in Warwickshire are back in the garage about 1900.

Resisting the temptation of a fish supper to take further advantage of Cornwall's late evening transport, we board First Devon & Cornwall Service 17 from Penzance Bus Station at 2250, arriving at Lelant Post Office at 2309 Friday evening.
