Welcome to the fun and games! I still need a fair few 166s, keep meaning to go down and get on with that but they seem to get forgotten about here!

Thanks for that, never knew this thread existed.

To be fair, I don't think I really advertised that thread when it was first created. However it seems to have proved more popular than the PCV Mileage Competition thread I started a while ago!

Am I supposed to congratulate you or curse your good luck ?
:)

Congratulations (spawny get) :D

67007 and 009 required here - 9 seems to be nailed to either the Fort William or Aberdeen sleepers and 7 has gone on its holidays down South.

Spawny get!
It was hard work and dedication that did it.

I'd like to thank God, my parents, my wife, 45135, the rail enthusiast community as a whole and Ed Burkhart for my success.
;)

As bb21 says, Passenger Carrying Vehicle. Basically that thread was designed to have a buses version of the rail mileage competition, but it's not been well received. Oh well, can't say we didn't try...

Had a couple of days in London earlier this week, my first serious unit bash of the year. The following were new:

Class 387 - 18 sets (would have been 20 had the last pair I went for not been cancelled). Prior to Monday, I hadn't been on any 387s.
Class 377 - Had my last 377/7, as well as one of the 2 377/6s I wanted. Just one Class 377 to go!
Class 350 - One of my last two 350/2s, plus a couple of 350/3s (still want 7 of them).
Class 458 - 458533 & 458536, which means I've now had all 6 of the complete conversions from Class 460s.
Croydon Tram - Had my last Croydon tram from East Croydon station round to the Travelodge.

My list was to be posted tonight, but due to falling behind with my bookwork this week I am nowhere near done and too tired to sit there with the A4 book and writing it all down into it out of my memo files.

You'd best get a brew on for my next post on this thread when the list is done, it's going to be long! <D

Gotta love the GA evening peak, so much scored it was unreal! My books are still looking a bit empty on 321/3s but they're a lot better than they were! :D Can't remember how well noddy1878 of this forum did on that lot in the end, but I do recall there were a lot of scores for both of us in the end :) I'm sure I will mention it there too, but it was a pleasure to finally meet you noddy1878! :D

Gotta love the GN evening peak for 313s, fair dos! Both of us did quite well in the end, going to get rather difficult to find my last 3 required ones next time but equally I could fall onto each of them in no time!

I'm sure I'll not forget in the meantime to mention it in the trip report, but even so it was a pleasure to finally meet you Kite159! Long time coming that meet was, hopefully next time you're up my way I might be free and able to be the tour guide around my neck of the woods!

28th March 2015

378207
378211
378214

After that spell of shack scratching on the NLL/ELL, producing few winners on my moves but plenty of winners on everything else, as should be rather obvious momentarily, I spent a LOT of time on the DLR! But first to log the only other EMU I scored on the way home:

390117

Down to just 7 390s to get now (1 /0 and 6 /1s), always nice to fall onto a winner on booked moves! It's going to get hard to find them now mind, lots of Daytrippers in the future to find them on International to New Street leaps I think!

Just a few scores there eh? ;) I think it should be fairly obvious I really needed a proper good DLR bashing session, and I was amazed how easy it was to shack scratch on some of the lines. Every 5 minutes from Lewisham to Bank yesterday at least, so jump off one, wait 5 minutes, go to the next and repeat until done! Cleared all of the DLR shacks now too, but those will be listed on the relevant thread.

LU Northern sets:

51553
51709

YTD: 289, meaning the London trip produced an enormous 146 winners!   :D :D :D

Not bad at all for Q1 2015, when things were fairly quiet for the first 6 weeks or so, what will Q2/Q3/Q4 bring? Q3 is scheduled to bring UKR's The Yorkshire Byways, so that could bring some interesting results. Everything else is unknown right now, although a Great Escape should be coming my way 2 weeks tomorrow. Although I'm also considering about a million things at once!

Wooaaaaa!!! Looked like you had a good trip there. Quite envious. Think I am going to have to get some planning sorted seeing I now have a free week in July when I should have been going to the German Grand Prix.

You're not far behind me for your yearly win count, I think I'm not far off halfway to 2014's UK totals already so should be interesting to see how the remaining 9 months play out!

andyb2706: It was an excellent trip, can't wait for the next one although it'll be tame compared to this one!

Congrats Noddy on completing the Heathrow Expresses, festering around Heathrow or was it a case of seeing a required 332 at Paddington and paying up for a quick 332 blast?

It was nice to finally meet you Techniquest, I shall put my list of new units (and 43046) probably tomorrow when I can transfer my notes from Google Keep to Excel and break out the red pen :)

With 332s the best way to do them is Terminal 123-Terminal 5 leaps. Get the same set out of Terminal 5 as you had in and then get the next one straight back to Terminal 123. You'll cover all the diagrams in about two hours then. 10 minute festers either end are a bit of a drag mind. And don't bother doing it on a Weekend, you'll only cover half as many sets, as they run single units at Weekends.

There's also the risk of getting the same one you've had before if you do it at weekends. I've had that before sadly, shall have to get down there next time and have more of a clearout. Last time I did Heathrow it was for planespotting so not exactly doing HEx.

Worth pointing out, now I've remembered it, that you can also get to Heathrow from Feltham, using what I believe is the 265 bus from Feltham station. About a 20 minute trip I think, certainly better than sufffering the Piccadilly line!

I reckon I could spend a full week in London and still need a lot!

Ah, so you're also cheating by counting light rail stuff! :p ;)

My next trip, which is down for a more local trip on LM metals, is not going to be anywhere near as productive as it'll be simply chasing after 350/3s. So as it stands, I expect my maximum score count on that Great Escape will hit no more than 8. Which has reminded me to look up 350/3 diagrams...

Kite159: Woah that's a lot had there! Jealous of your GN 313s, I'm two behind you. No prizes for guessing where I'm going next time I do London...

Well I am surprised that you have not noticed that I do not count anything non-NR towards my YTD total. :D

Meanwhile a certain person... ;)

Where you need only 8 x 350/3s, I need 13x /1s, 6x /3s & 26 x /2s. Although a Great Escape might reduce that number some-what by festering around Milton Keynes it would be better on a weekday or a Saturday.

I wonder if I will get 313030 or 444017 first

Interesting that I will not be the only one using this Great Escape offer to go 350-chasing. :D

Weekdays definitely. Cheaper and you get the benefit of the 12-cars being out in full force. With so many still required, it's a no-brainer.

I used my last GE to go 350 chasing, it's the easiest way to do 350s away from the WMDR area for sure.

I wish you luck Kite159 on your mission, it took me a long time to get all my 350/1s and /2s in, dread to think how long it'll be before I get the /3s done!

bb21: Not noticed that to be honest! If I took my non-NR metals winners out I'd still have a big number :p

I will probably give the Great Escape a miss, and keep that Sunday for another London based bash, maybe doing London Midland on a Friday evening on a BZ6 ticket.
Keeping an eye on which 321 makes an appearance on the Abbey flyer in case 321412 pops up that week.
