37254, first passenger runs in Preservation.

37254 ran on the first official passenger run at the Spa Valley Railway on 26/4/08. It ran well, as did 33063, 33065 and 73140, who all participated in the Diesel Gala.

Great day that was eh Josh? Flailing at the wedding party on high rocks station, and at the campsite near the Farmer's crossing

Thought the 33/37 combo was quite hellfire, 73140 i thought was quite boring, even on the uphill section!

Thanks for editing my thread, but I'm afraid you are totally wrong.. Diesels are nice, but they dont have the fascination of a steam engine, and diesels can be sometimes quite boring, wheras steam never is..
I have to admit though, I was quite excited by 37254, 33063 and 33065 on the same train!:-P

So did 37254 Had a good driver on it all day, some decent thrash on the 1:100 gradient beyond the Farmer's crossing at Pokehill, and out of High Rocks on the 1-in-88!

Anyone wishing to bash it, please note, it's not expected to run again until August when the SpVR have their summer diesel gala.

It wasn't busy at all on the Sunday, had a whole coach pretty much to myself at one point. The weather was pretty crap on Sunday so that could have been one reason. I expect the August Gala will be busier.

Yeah there were a fair few out for 254! If there weren't so many clashes (I.E. Vegfinder's Grays Church Elegy with 401/417, SDR with Green D6737, Bo'Ness with 2 37s, SVR with 901/6, and the GCR with 37610), maybe more people would of turned up for it!

I expect the August Gala will be busier.

It was pretty busy last August on the Saturday, the trains I went on were well loaded. I only did a couple of hours worth of linesiding on the Sunday last August so didn't know what the loadings were like. The year before was pretty busy on the Sunday, went on the Friday and Sunday.

Would be good if the Spa Valley could get a visiting diesel for the August Diesel Gala, another 37 would be nice. :grin:

I have never done a diesel gala before Saturday, and to be honest, I'd never intended to, but I really enjoyed Spa Valley's one, and hopefully I will return for the next ones...

I'll be over there on May 17th for the Spring Gala hopefully.
