So on a DMU how is refuelling carried out? Does the refuelling point have several nozzles at a certain distance apart so multiple tanks can be filled at once? Or must the driver keep moving the train forward for each tank? Does the driver have to identify himself or the train to the pump/s? Do the nozzles have latching handles and auto-shut off so they can be left inserted and filling unattended while the driver goes to the other nozzles?
And is this a drivers' job or a depot shunters' job? Will an average DMU (on average routes) last all day on a full tank?
Just curious as it seems to be a little-talked about subject!
