Had a trip out round on a west midlands day ranger yesterday with a quick run to bicester too.

Winners were:
172103 (last 172 for travel)
68012
67020
165006

Not a bad result at all considering how few are required locally

Winners on my little trip on Saturday, route coverage was the priority although I did fit in some linear bashing

Northern: 144001; 158759; 158784; 158817; 158842; 158907

Virgin: 390013

----

From Sunday's "Return to London" Bash

Southern: 377128 & 377142

No double/triple winners apart from 444029/444032 which I somehow managed to get 3 times, but only 003/004 & 017 to get of the 444s :)

Thameslink:
319377; 319381; 319421; 319435; 319441; 319450; 319459; 377210; 377505; 377512; 377514; 387112; 387113; 387114

32 new units today, win rate (excluding duplicates) of 46%. I might put my required Thameslink 319s & 377s in my phone next.

Some pretty impressive results there! I did manage to grab the 91 from my trip outbound on Saturday morning (somehow managed to be early enough to make the 0930 instead of the 1000), which is probably a winner as I have so few of them documented. Return trip is an hst - I'll grab the front power car upon arrival at London but I see the rear is 43277 again, which I believe will make for my highest scoring unit yet, as from memory this is the fourth time I've captured it on the London - York run, putting it at 754 miles exactly. Will check properly once I'm home. Quite pleased to get one unit so high up the mileage chart (never know, I might make it to 1000 with 277 without actually aiming for it!) but on the other hand, doesn't help me score EC 43s any faster! :p

Got one of my last 2 'complete' Pendolinos on Saturday, so down to one now (excluding 390033 which I missed). Also 390128 for 'extending' (FU!), and 4 Metrolink Trams, which means, of the sets which have entered traffic, I now need 2 (3087/93). Deckchairing on Cornbrook at this time of year isn't too be recommended...

I take it Metrolink have got up to 3104 in service now?

You're all doing well, that's for sure! I was going to head out this morning for some action on the rails, however the weather forecast for this morning was terrible when I looked yesterday. I therefore cancelled my plans to go out, which I'm of course regretting as I could, for all I know, have scored my last 2 350/2s, any amount of my last 9 390s, a Chiltern 165 on the Leamington Spa shuttles, 67023 (if it had managed to turn up on a Birmingham service of course!) or any number of Midland Metro trams! Never mind, it was for the greater good, because if all pays off I'll have some mega trips later this year! Depending how tight fisted I am for the rest of Q1 2015 that is...

Got my year off to a start weekend before last but only just got round to the pen and photos...

Very simple out first thing Saturday, back late Sunday on cheap flights to Koln. Managed to whip 27 into an empty book winners which was slightly up on target given the timing just after a load of 143s had finished (doh!)

120207 took the honours of being first loco (and winner) of the year, definite highlight was this black beast later on

17th January:
321431 Shenfield-Stratford
96411 Stratford-Green Park
09TS set 35 Green Park-Kings Cross St Pancras - Cleared for 1 mile
91116 London Kings Cross-York - Winner - Cleared for 100 miles straight

19th January:
43305/43277 York-London Kings Cross - 43305 Winner - Cleared for 100 miles straight, 43277 Now cleared for 700 miles straight - all-time class record, all-time unit record
S8 set 40 Kings Cross St Pancras-Liverpool Street
360102 London Liverpool Street-Shenfield

Brings my 2015 mileage up to 868m70c if I calculated the underground section right ;)
No winners on the underground this weekend, it's my first documented mileage for 09TS set 35 but I already have the set marked as travelled on, so nothing too exciting there. I had a choice of three units out of Liverpool Street within reasonable time but none were needed. The 700 mile 43 was probably the highlight though, that plus finally scoring another 91. Out of sheer coincidence, the four I have logged are 114, 115, 116 and 117 :)

Is that all?! My all-time record for any class member across all classes is 2,987m47c on 43002. I'm certain I'm missing a journey from my logs there, which would have had it well over 3,000, but that'll do! http://techniquest.railmiles.org/tops-43002/ :D<D;)

Mind you, I've had only 46m12c off 43277

At least you've got some winners on the ECML, and I need 91116. Maybe that'll change later this year! <D Speaking of, I really need to generate a new thread...

and how long have you been recording mileage? Furthermore, how many dedicated 'bashes' have you been on since then? :D

Your first question has a very long answer, as I've discovered from going through my diaries, notebooks and so on. However the short answer would probably be properly since 2006, and getting more dedicated as each year goes by!

How many bashes have I been on since? A question to which I have no answer as it would depend on how you define the start, finish and duration of a bash. If that answer was along the lines of "a trip purely to enjoy the rails for leisure, no commuting, no days of travelling to/from work for/from a bash, multi-moves days only" then I would still have to chuck in a completely random figure and suggest I've had at least 120 such days over the years, but I would not be surprised in any way, shape or form if that number was significantly higher!

Try one (since I started recording which units I travelled on, wasn't doing units back then) and it was exploratory, not for the purposes of maximising the units I'd been on! For 'legitimate' travel only, my records span about 12-15 months at most with mileage, perhaps just under 2 years for actually grabbing unit numbers. I don't think I'm doing too bad :D

Fair enough, I was only bantering with the 43277 thing, although I appreciate that may not be terribly clear! Head's all over the place at the moment!

No, the highest in traffic is 3093. Keep an eye on the thread at http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=101214 for updates. I'm not even sure if 3094 has been delivered yet.

Ah right, I thought they were all there by now. Cheers for the gen, shall have to keep an eye on things!

samuelmorris: Good stuff, and no worries. I always had it in my head you'd be at the game for far, far longer than that though!

Alas, no - been commuting for a little over 3 years but only thought to start making something of it about 2 years ago and unit mileages obviously later still. Nonetheless, I'm pretty happy with what I've got so far. I managed to definitively complete the 357s about a year ago now, having had to wait about 2-3 months to get the last one (357210) and now I'm fast approaching being able to do the same with the AGA 321s and the 360/1s. I'm hoping to also be able to do the 315s before they go as I'm pretty sure I've done every one of the Great Eastern ones, but the latter 17 or 18, however many it is, that used to stay on the WAGN side, I can't be certain of, so having the class definitively completed would be nice :D 96TS I've done on a 'set' basis but given that they don't operate as sets I do kind of need to double check I have every half, but then they're not going anywhere any time soon. Sadly two of the D78s I've not got documented are booked to disappear very soon so I will have to write them off as a lost cause like the C69/C77s. I made a pretty large dent in them though. I might have another decade to go but I'm not honestly sure I can manage the 92TS given the enormous fleet size, without doing an actual Central line bash. Having used the central line at various times throughout the day, I'm not sure I can think of anything on the railway less appealing :p

Please remember this is the 'Red Pen' thread, not one for discussion of rolling stock. I have had to deleted a load of off topic stuff.

Fair enough - it was a bit of a tangent to which lines people would prefer to 'bash' but I'm not going to argue :p

Peter - would you mind sharing where you had that S7? I'm struggling to find any of the recently delivered units, I have the vast majority of the original fleet they brought in to replace the Cs, but I'm missing all the higher numbered units like that one :s

That one's been on the Wimblewares for at least a week. My technique is to wait around at Edgware Road and watch what goes the other way as well as the immediate platform - I have seen a lot of the higher numbered ones on all three routes through there.

That would explain it - about the only part of the surface network I rarely see :p - I try and check the units I can see at Wimbledon when I go past but it's been dark the past couple of times. Before that, it was always low numbered units down there. Thanks for the tip :)

Bear in mind that now they are running on the District main as well. In a few months, you could probably just rack up units and milage going Tower Hill - Liverpool Street - Aldgate East - Tower Hill. Also worth noting that the allocations are random, I've had 301/02 on one train on one day, and then 423/04 the next day!
