We are talking about Windermere long distance services.

I know. My point is that it would be easier to fit them in on a clockface basis. And indeed they used to be clockface-ish, on a two hourly pattern I believe. The present messy pattern has I think something to do with availability of 185s.

Lol, read what I originally wrote.

I did. You stated it may be difficult to path the service on the WCML with a clockface timetable. I stated that that was not the case because other existing services on the WCML are clockface, so if there is room for it at all there is room for it at the same time each hour.

I said they didn't have the stock to manage a regular service. As to the clockface issues im referring to the timings of the service, its harder to fit into slots on a busy existing schedule without significant downtime, they don't have the stock to let something sit around doing nothing to allow even timings. The other issue is that while there is a clockface timetable the paths aren't always available, e.g. certain hours slots could be given over to freight or extra peak services.

Not sure what you mean by "downtime", but as it's a branch it wouldn't be hard to schedule it to fit the slots on the WCML, as it doesn't depend on anything else.

The reason why TPE don't run a full through service now is indeed 185 availability, I understand.

You tend to get variance from clockface in the peaks - but that isn't a reason not to run clockface all day. Freight, maybe, but the north WCML is hardly full.

I think you'll find down time is turnaround time.

Insufficient of which leads to poor performance and too much = poor stock utilisation.
