Don't worry this is not a missive relating to the poor personal hygiene habits of anorak clad RailUK Forums devotees.

When I was a child showers did not exist (at least for the proletariat) and "the weekly bath" was a regular feature of everyday life.

Today however I can't remember the last time I had a bath , with a shower being the favoured form of personal cleaning.

Is this a form of behaviour prevalent amongst other RailUK Forums Members ?

Does anyone still regularly have a bath ?

Bath's are much too time consuming IMO, A quick 5 minute shower not only wakes you up in the morning but provides a quick and effective solution to the morning bathing problem.

Yes, my preferred method. Ill have a shower if I'm in a rush or starting work early in the morning but otherwise its a bath all the way. I find them much more relaxing.

Shower daily - Bath about once a week. Was so glad to move out of the parents place where they just have a walk in shower.

Bath all the time since that's all what we got. Due to being in a council property. When visiting girlfriend or hotels etc showers all the way as miles faster.

Shower, in the morning. I only ever have a bath if I'm feeling ill, a nice hot soak normally sorts me out.

Another question is, do you shower in the morning to wake you up or do you shower at night so you go to bed fresh and clean?

Shower daily. Tend to use the bath if feeling unwell etc. If I use the bath I will shower first though as I just feel other wise a bath is washing in my own dirt!

Our huge corner bath hasn't been ever used in the 8 years of living in my property, we've even had the taps replaced and all! It's shower every morning not much more and I'm probably to long for the bath anyway!

Although I have a shower more often, I do enjoy a soak in the bath, and will be going for one shortly. I have a new bathroom constructed a year or two ago - the space in there is rather limited, and when I was discussing things with my builder, one thing he suggested was the possibility of just having a shower, to which I replied with a very quick "No"!

I'm another bath type; I hate showers - they don't feel comfortable to me at all, and I like to just lie there soaking in the hot water for a long time after I've finished washing. A second factor is that the heat from the water really helps my bad back a lot. The heat relaxes the muscles and I find the effect lasts a long time after the bath is over.

Our bath is pretty small so I think the romance gets killed when you have to call the fire brigade to help you get out. That is unless that's part of the fantasy...

Here is one for those of the top age range on this website, such as me. Take the zinc/tin bath off the hook on the wall of the back yard, bring it in to be in front of a well stoked coal fire in the back room, fill it with hot water from pans on the range and add a liberal dose of Condy's crystals that turned the water red. This would then suffice for four family members, one after the other.
