Does anyone know which East Coast services which are diverted via Carlisle on October 18th will be 91+DVTs so they will be dragged by a class 67?

No diverted HSTs then? As one year if I recall they had both 91s being dragged and HSTs working the diversion.

I'd imagine so as there usually is. That response above seems solely for the original question about which services were drags.

I think that's the quickest way to access the WCML from Edinburgh.

It is, but would it not have been easier to start later from Glasgow and "jump" Edinburgh (i.e go straight Glasgow-Carstairs-Carlisle) with passengers advised to use/booked on connecting scheduled WCML services?

'Ever' is a long time, so yes it'll probably get done. In the near future, don't hold your breath.

Network Rail seems to have an all-or-nothing view (based on various published documents) so I think it would take a while. It could be done as a Newcastle to Metrocentre stage with a minor expansion of Metrocentre station (there would be a small 'land take' but this would merely be road verges etc.) which might also enable an easing of the curves and maybe a couple of minutes off the journey time as well as the electrification part enabling the Metrocentre/Morpeth and Metrocentre/Newcastle diagrams to be operated by EMUs.

.

Because Glasgow passengers would just use the WCML anyway and the main reason for the diverts is for Edinburgh passengers to get to ECML stations?

The question was for 91s. ;) The rest are all booked to be HSTs.

Will the diverts call at Carlisle? Might be a reason to venture up there on a Saturday
Cheers
Yes, as far as I know they all do.

Easier? For who? The railway supposedly exists, and subsidised to, provide a convenient service for customers ;)

There will be HST's and this is the 3rd year of them dragging services.

Any drags in the pipeline at the moment? Perhaps via Stillington, Askern or the GN&GE?

Thanks
