Hello,

I will be making a single journey to Southampton from London in November. Will be getting to London on Highland sleeper.
Can afford to go off peak as I'm fairly certain I don't need to be in Southampton till later in the day.

Had a look at direct SWT service from Waterloo. Can't see any advance fares. Cheapest was £38 something.
As I say not in any hurry so don't mind going around the houses if it saves a few pennies.
Plus I can get some new track covered.
I had a look at St Pancras to Brighton then to Southampton. As I can walk from Euston to St Pancras I save on LU fare as well so that works out at about £31/£32.
I'm happy to do this but not 100% sure I'll have all day to get to Southampton. In that case can anyone get cheaper fare?
Of any length. Like to have a few options.

Thanks

Bodie

If you don't mind being restricted to using Southern how about a Daysave ticket (only available online).

http://www.southernrailway.com/tickets-and-fares/ticket-types/daysave-off-peak/

DaySave Off-Peak

The DaySave ticket is an off-peak pass available for unlimited travel on Southern services on the date shown on the ticket. This ticket is only available online, and is only valid on the Southern network. Not valid on Gatwick Express.

DaySave costs just £15 per adult, or in a group (valid for a minimum of three and maximum of four passengers, who must travel together) DaySave costs just £30.

The OP *may* be able to get Megatrain tickets from Southampton Central to London Waterloo on SWT services, starting from £1 per ticket plus 50p booking fee (albeit that most pay substantially more), booked through megabus.com.

This would be the best bet, there is normally good availability on the xx39 service, which is the stopper to Poole, but if time is not a constraint then should have no problem finding a £1 ticket, when booking well in advance.

Just had a look on megatrain, and whilst you can't book November yet, looking at the 1st October, there's several trains for £6 from London to Southampton, so you should find something in a few weeks time. Takes an hour and a half to Soton.
