Any splitting advice for Euston to Man Pic on 24th August?
Getting the 1312 Euston to Coventry VT diversion via Chilterns
1526ish Coventry to Man Pic XC.
Travelling on PRIV

Anytime Single London Terminals to High Wycombe - £3.20
Anytime Single High Wycombe to Banbury - £2.80
Heart of England 3 in 7 Rover - £19.25
Anytime Single Stoke-on-Trent to Manchester (Any Permitted) - £3.80

Total £29.05

Might be something cheaper out there though and if you can wait 'til 7th September.....

You couldn't use the VT through service with these fares though, as you would need to stop at the splitting points (High Wycombe, Banbury).
It would work on Chiltern though.

A 3 in 7 rover is a leisure pass for the purposes of Condition 19c. The train does not need to call.

May I ask why?

I guess if you weren't too fussed about getting the diverts you could use one of chilterns 'silver sets' to go to Leamington Spa with a split at High Wycombe Banbury and then Heart of England rover to get you to Macclesfield for a single from Macclesfield. Otherwise you are probably looking at £31 from EUS-COV and then a heart of England rover to Macclesfield for a single to Manc, much more expensive.

There is no need for the train to call at any splitting points, as per the NRCoC:, which allows you to use "two or more tickets for one journey" in various circumstances, including where:

....one of the tickets is a Season Ticket (which for this purpose does not include Season Tickets or travel passes issued on behalf of a passenger transport executive or local authority) or a leisure travel pass, and the other ticket(s) is/are not.

I have put the relevant parts in bold above.

As the Virgin Trains service goes via High Wycombe & Banbury, the combination is valid.

The diverted Virgin Trains service does go via High Wycombe, Banbury (and the Heart of England ), so it's a valid combination.

Why is the £16 Euston to Brum super duper mega saving single not available on the 24th August. I've looked at the SN restriction and the 1312 seems to satisfy these

That fare seems to be a "Half Super Off-Peak Single" - you can only buy it as part of a return journey with an advance fare coming the other way. It is available on the train you want, but you also need to buy a "throwaway" cheap advance on a future date. E.g. I have just checked and the 2033 London Midland BHM-EUS service on Wednesday 8th October has an advance available for £6, so that would be £22 in total.

I agree. It cannot be bought on its own.

I didn't know however that you could buy an LM Only ticket in the other direction.

I can see that avoids the need for a call at Banbury, but how does it get round High Wycombe if you hold London-High Wycombe and High Wycombe-Banbury point-to-point tickets?

The passenger may use two or more (in this case, more) tickets for one journey under NRCoC 19(c), providing one of the tickets is a Season or leisure pass (in this case a Heart of England Rover is a leisure pass valid for 3 days or more) and the other tickets are not (in this case the other tickets are not Seasons/leisure passes).

Therefore Condition 19(c) is fully satisfied for the journey.

There is no need to satisfy Condition 19(a) because you only need to satisfy one of 19(a), or 19(b) or 19(c).

This is also mentioned in our Fares Guide (which has been proof read by senior staff at ATOC).

My understanding is that the Heart of England Rover tickets are valid only as far as Kidsgrove and not as far as Macclesfield - have I got that right?

When travelling between Euston and Manchester I've commonly used an East Midlands Rover which gives availability on the West Coast between Bletchley and Stoke-on-Trent and, therefore, on Virgin between Milton Keynes & Stoke. The more natural choice of Heart of England Rover offering only Northampton to Kidsgrove. I have, therefore, read the advice about being able to move into the availability of Rover Tickets 'on the move' with interest.

Yes, words on the street is that NRCoC 19(c) will be significantly reworded.

Oh, I mean if there is a kind guard on board, my dad always used to go there on the XC 47s for a good connection.
