Also the fact that a bus route can survive at a half-hourly frequency even though it takes 3 hours and 40 minutes, I think shows how helpful a railway would be along this route...

Agreed. If so, maybe run it from Bristol and over to Cambridge via Cirencester, Bicester, Bletchley, Bedford, St Neots and Cambridge.

My response was that we were reduced to shuttling back and forth on the Chiltern Railways main line and having made the decision to go up the branch line to the terminus at Princes Risborough, I had hoped that those contestants who like to use bus travel like your good self would have such an opportunity.

This is a matter upon which that I am quite prepared to reconsider my decision to use rail only, which was made in response to being allowed to use "random" railway stations such as Goostrey or Styal without any adverse comments, whereas officially timetabled bus stops in "random" areas, many of which are to be found in the northern reaches of Scotland, seemed to be "frowned upon"

To my own personal way of thinking, taking the time and trouble to find a timetable equally applies to rail, bus, coach, ferry, heritage railways or light rail systems, as the use of the internet makes matters reasonably easy these days.
